Parking Rig During HomeTime

Got the same problem with parking. Anyone in Vegas have a good place to park? Can you park it at a truckstop for a couple of days?

 

only one problem with your post all rigs plug into 110 volt plug for the block heater not 220.

 

Are there any trucking companies in the area? If so, talk to them about renting a space from them. Most of them will do it if they have the space. Some will charge you rent, others won't. This also gives you piece of mind knowing you will have a place when you get home and not have to worry if some OTR guy "borrowed" your spot for the night.

We used to allow local guys to park in our lot rent-free but we now have to charge because the local truck stop that many of them were using closed down. Now there are more trucks needing spots that I don't have. I guess supply and demand ruled out...By the way, for reference, we charge $30 a month regardless of how many days a month you are there.

 

Hopfrog that would be up to the manager at the T/S. Be sure to let him/her that your on your days off and ask if you can park there and where.

 

I live out in the boonies so it was easy to park on my land and plug it in during winter... the drawback was all the snow and lack of plowing that I couldn't always get up to the house. We would just park at the small station with big lot a few miles away.

See if there is a large parking area somewhere really close.

 

I suppose that you are correct, and my memory is faulty. The construction grade cords and three-prong twist sockets threw me off. There is no way to check it out now because they sold out in the late 1970s.

 

I use a truck towing/recovery yard which is only a few miles from my house. He charges by the day or month. He has electric hook up for his trucks so one more is not that difficult. Good luck

 

I know that it is frustrating, but use this time to practice, practice, practice. And yes, you are paying good money for school, so go ahead and make demands of them. You want to be very comfortable with that truck before you go out on the road.

 

if the school will not help you by letting you drive a truck that you are fimalure {sp?} with then go to the admin if they will not help you look up on the net for the department of higher education for your state and usually one call maybe a faxed letter will change that schools tune quick the dept of higher education regulates the schools and they can help with the problems that you have with the schools.


I was lucky I tested in one of the three truck that I drove on the street and in the range plus I drove a truck just like it almost every day at school except they put me in this old pos freight shaker the steering was loose the wheel was big and I hated it I drove the old pos one time on the road and refused to drive it on the road ever again I used it in the range though had no problems with it doing manauvers.

I also had problems with one of the instructors he was telling me turn turn turn when I was on the road with him my second day and I almost took out a pole with the rear of the trailer then he asked me did you not see the pole.

I told him once he was telling me how to drive the auto pilot went off and he was driving the truck from the passenger seat.

He did not like that I told him next time we are on the road to shut the #### up and let me drive the truck then.

I even told his supervisor that I had told him that his supervisor just laughed .

I did not have any problems with any other instructors one of the hard ### by the book instructors told me that if we were teaming he would have no problem being in the sleeper while I was driving.

He told me that most of the students usually scare the #### out of him.

That instructor also dozed off a few times while I was driving.

Prior to almost hitting the pole he had let me drive without his comments except what road to turn on.

I can not drive with someone chirping in my ears telling me how to drive the only exception is they can tell me were to turn and I have no problems with that.
