I'm a 4 wheeler about to install a cb. I look forward to joining y'all on the asphalt. Just wanted to know, besides messing around and being an ### what do you hate about 4 wheelers with cb's? What do you suggest as far as how to fit in?

IF you are going to moniter the "trucker channel" in your area, dont jabber on that channel. If you want to chat with your buddies, pick another one. If you see a driver in town that might look lost, makin a u-turn, etc., ask where he is headed and offer him directions. If someone is asking for directions in your area, let them know. The key is to be helpful, not a terror behind the microphone. Personally, I dont care if its a driver, 4 wheeler, or a 9 y.o. kid..if they helped me out, I appreciated it! Keep the echo down too if you plan on running any it all...its not as cool once you listen to it all the time.
libertasvelnex and plumblucky Thank this. -
Cool i appreciate it. Yeah it drives me nuts when people just talk stupid when others actually are trying to be helpful.
Keep the advice coming guys. -
Talk where ever the heck you want, as long as you want. OOOOO not on the trucker channle.... PA-leeeze.
-
Just get a plain radio, you don't need all the echo, Roger Beep, and other noise crap people put on a radio........
Flying Dutchman and Grumppy Thank this. -
I don't run a CB in my truck but I used to keep them in my 4 wheelers when I was younger. You name it, I probably had it, 11m radios with extra channels and 10m Ham radios converted for CB freqs. Anyhow, as mentioned about, keep the truck channel clear unless it's something you can do to help someone. The rest of the chatter is best for another channel.

Be prepared for some of the most vile, disgusting, STUPID language you will ever hear.
Consider your wife and kids (if any). Consider yourself if you don't have a thick skin.
You'll find some good people to talk to, then the garbage will drown it out.
Sorry to be such a buzzkill about it, just be prepared.
I have to have a radio in my truck for job requirements, I keep set to where, "If you can't see me, I can't hear you", and I was a sailor and am a truck driver! lol -
Yeah and there seems to be an epidemic with people losing thier panties. So be prepared for alot of guys letting you know they dont have any on.
BTShepp Thanks this. -
Half the chatter on CH19 from truckers is useless, though. If you do monitor CH19, be prepared to find yourself wondering if any of us ever made it past kindergarten. Yeah, it gets that bad. Unfortunately, you're probably going to figure them to be representative, and come out of it loathing truck drivers, and probably wanting to ditch the CB radio altogether.
You can talk on 19... it's Citizens Band, not "Trucker's Band", but a little consideration would be appreciated. Unfortunately, it would be absurd to harp on you for it if you didn't show that consideration, seeing as we can't expect it from a lot of truckers who get on the CB.
Enjoy your radio. Just try to remember that we're not all like the filth you're bound to hear on there.plumblucky Thanks this. -
Let us know about "brake checks" (slowdowns or stops) or "alligators" (tire treads) by the "yardstick" (mile marker).
IE: Brakecheck, yardstick 99, Southbound.
"photocop, southbound, yardstick 57."

plumblucky Thanks this.
