Ok, so I just swithced trucking companies from going directly OTR to now doing city driving with some OTR nescessary.

My question is, if I drive Monday and Tuesday in the city without going over my 100mile/160km radius and then need to drive OTR Wednesday and Thursday and come back Friday and do city driving, How do I fill out my log books to be in compliance?

Log books are not nescessary if your home terminal is within 100mile/160km radious but the employer would need to keep records of on-duty time but log books are nescessary if you go outside the 100mile/160km radious. Not sure how to log this in the books.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you in advance

choctawblood09 is pretty correct in the response. I just want to explain why you need to fill out a log sheet when you are working local. When OTR you must have the prior 7 days worth of log sheets so you don't want to get put OOS over something so minor in your situation. It's just easiest to do it that way since you have the OTR mix in there.

If you possibly might go into Canada they require the previous 14 days worth of logs!

Well I actually am from Canada, Ontario to be exact.

choctawblood09, when you are reffering to mark in on line 4, what exactly is line 4? Canadian log books may be different from state side as the only line 4 I can think of is On-Duty time.

    Thank you

correct line 4 is on-duty not driving. another thing to remember is if you use a time clock and your logs, ya may want to make sure they match up time wise. if your co. gets audited ya might have a problem. been there, done that, and got the tee-shirt.

Yes line 4 is (on duty time) Usually it is quoted to the side on the log grid.

Well I have a copy of the MTO regulations, and I believe we are somewhat similar; however we do have different HOS regulations. Yes you will need to keep 14 days worth of logs for Canada so therefore back to that's why you fill it out on a log sheet. I would ask your log auditor to make sure we are correct as Canada is different. Now I know you will need the previous 7 days for USA.
