Most of these fly-by-night O/O and small fleets will be gone once the universal EOBR-mandate is put in place.

Did you not fill out a job application, did she run a dmv record on you and she must of put you on her insurance to drive the truck. Did you sign fuel reciepts or any other paperwork you must have something in writing somewhere. If you started a job where the employer never asked you for anything then a red flag should have popped in your head and if you still worked for them shame on you. IMO your only option is small claims court but just because you win does not mean you get your money they still have to pay which alot do not even after you put a lean on them.

MAKE SURE you post a rebuttal ad in craigslist so she might not be able to find another driver. I'd make it my life's mission to make sure she couldn't move the truck for profit, then let her know that if she pays you, you'll consider backing off.
BigJohn54 Thanks this. -
yes I filled out an app with the company she brokered for and I have a paper trail with fuel receipts and load BOL and manifest numbers so I can prove that I worked for her and what loads I ran. I'm just going to have trouble proving how much she actually owes me.
I suppose I could be vindictive and turn her into the IRS or unemployment agency for not paying unemployment taxes but that may make it even harder to collect in the long run. She can't pay me if she's paying the State.
I guess it should have been a red flag when she high-tailed it down to Georgia from Michigan after I took the job but I've never been accused of being super intelligent and like I said I had a soft spot for trying to help folks. -
Understood - I'd initiate a police report there based on theft of services/general theft.

yes the craigslist posting was already done. I'm going to post one everyday.
The worst part is I can see how some would think I'm picking on an old lady but the more I think about it the more it seemed to be all a set up. I talked to her husband on the phone and it didn't sound like he had a stroke at all. I mean I'm not a doctor but usually you can tell. It just all seemed preplanned. She had her old driver who I replaced jump in the truck the day after I quit. hmmm he was supposed to be off otr somewhere. I'm thinking they just needed a sucker to make a couple truck payments for them. -
I think you should post every bit of the info you have on them, on HERE. New thread, if needed.

ah excellent idea. I'll just copy and paste my craigslist ad that goes like this........
