My favorite customers, the ones who don't screw around when loading or unloading, who are generally pleasant to me, get donuts 4-5 times a year, and lottery tickets, or a small gift card at Christmas.
Consequently, I can show up late, and get unloaded, while others are sent away, or show up with a load that's leaning a bit, and they'll unload it, no questions, while our other drivers show up with the same load, and the receiver will call the supervisor to get the camera, decide if they want the load, etc.

It never pays to be less than pleasant.....

    UTurn55 and formertaxidriver Thank this.

I'm learning a few new tricks from you drivers, that will certainly come in handy. I've already learned that "lunch money" sticking out of my shirt pocket helps when arriving early to unload. :biggrin_25524:

Like all of you he knew I was joking. In 14 years out there I never once had a shipper/receiver or forklift operator make any unpleasant comments of a sexual nature or act inappropriately.

I'm not saying I didn't ever get asked out or invited home by some cute young man on a forklift but I already thanked those shippers/receivers personally. :)

I was just razzin' ya, It's nice to see that you were treated with respect out on the road, it's not something you run into very often...respect.

I knew you were Logan76, the "havin' a blast everyday" would tip anyone off. I always tried to have a good time out there and giving and getting respect helped alot.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

We unhitched trailer to be loaded, down in Nogales. With permit in hand, I got my chance to practice manueviring my bobcat, Mocha pony, my 1st love, Volvo. I created a duststorm, felt like I was in a bullring on my ride. double clutching, gear changing, backups, pull ups. Also, had a few in audience with no complaints only cheers. Then backed up to trailer, learned the secret of having too much ice on the lettuce for front weight, bring it on back. From the mountains of Washington to the dust of Az to the boarder guards and through the missions to Florida to p/u at tropicana and back to san fran. Amen, memories forever, gets n my blood. All this for America. Um, oh ya, lumpers, without them I couldn't have had the time to clean out my trailer, because the road (and dispatcher) was calling.

I was wondering about that one meself. On a sidenote, I was once told to ice a load of cantalopes by a nightime jr dispatcher. Sure glad I knew better and waited 'til morning just to make sure.
