Hey out there, will I be wasting my time tring to become a trucker? I have felonies in my background from 2007 and my license was suspended due to the charges (no dui charge) . I can get the license back but cant really afford to bcuz of no jobs in texas that hire felons but I did see where they said truckers can have a job as long as they dont go to canada. I dont know if this is true and if so neone know of ne companies that r willing to help someone in my position? I have called several and its getting old being turned down all the time so nehelp will be great. Thanx Ya

My answer to your question is. No..

    You state felonies plural?
    How many do you have???

I know the people I'm with have taken some on and it's been a 50/50 split on how they worked out. 2 I know are still here. Others well not so good.
But I think you just might be wasting your time and money. Just my opinion.
Good luck in what ever you do.

I had to wait to start my career because of a license suspension due to no insurance.

I had to have a valid license for a year before any company would take me.

Combine a suspended license with felonies and I'd say it's gonna be a #### hard row to hoe for ya. Maybe even not likely to happen for a few years.

Nothing is a waste of time trying to achieve it if that is what you want to do.

Maybe going 1 or 2 states over and applying with the smaller companies will give you the shot you're looking for. All of the major companies will avoid you insurance reasons. The places that normally take drivers with felonies first have to already have a cdl most of the time and it usually has to be anywhere from 5-10 yrs from the date of the offense. Shorter timeframes and the types of felonies will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Hope this helps you going further.

Do some research in your area. There are local jobs that hire people with felonies, depending on how recent and what types of charges. I don't know the details, but there are ways for people to get work and get their second chance. It's difficult, but possible!
