I did a search but found nothing in specific to what I was looking for. Is it a law to wear a seat belt in a rig? I thought I was supposed to, by law, but was told by a friend's Dad(35 years in trucking) that it isn't a law. I just got a ticket in South Carolina in my truck and luckily it isn't a heavy fine. Thanks. Later, QD.

Yes, it is a law in EVERY state to wear a seatbelt in a big rig. I'll try and find the info, can anyone else look for it as well?
Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
Thanks. Out of curiosity, where is Big Sandy?
-
Big Sandy is in western Tennessee inbetween Nashville and Memphis basically.

Seatbelts are the law of common sense! I can't understand how someone would be so foolish as to drive ANY motor vehicle without wearing it. Did you read about the watermelon hauler who was just killed down in Georgia? That's right- thrown from the cab-not wearing a seatbelt!
-
Call it want you want but I find it funny that you can think you have the authority to call me a fool after reading a question I posed. I'm hardly the fool. I only asked about the actual law. Not your version of common sense.94coupe Thanks this.

Try and not let it get to you, some people type what their thinking, not looking at how it sounds.

My sister in law recently witnessed a wreck where the driver was headless when the dust all settled............... because of no seat belt.
Yes it is the law, thats why you got a ticket for it.Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
Then why don't I have to wear a helmet on a motorcycle. The states don't know you or care about you, just revenue generation.
-
I will tell you why I think you should not have to wear a helmet on
a motorcycle. If you are going to be fast and reckless you should
drive somthing that will cause the least amount of damage to
people around you. A motorcycle. After the Dems spent years
paying welfare mothers to have children we need to thin the
herd out a little, Darwin style. Drunk drivers should be issued a
motorcycle license to get to work so they have a legal way
and don't drive a car without a license. If your drunk your
probably going to fall down in the parking lot of the bar anyway.
Point is that compared to cars and trucks, Motorcycles for the
most part hurt themselves more than anyone else. If we can
put more idiots and drunks on bikes people will start really
looking out for us motorcyclists and less innocent bystanders
will get hurt. Either that or lets be consistant and require all
vehicle operators to wear helmets. With todays technology
if you die in a car crash its going to probably be from a head
injury anyway.
Good point about revenue generation, I agree.
