Its hard for a cop to see if you have a seatbelt on in your truck anyway.
So he pulls you over and you put it on before he gets to the truck.
Or your wearing it and have to take it off to get your licence or registration so they will be ready for him. Either way its a stupid law
that is almost imposible to effectively enforce. Cops should spend their
time getting drunks off the road, not saveing us from ourselves.

Yeah, I got you, lolol. I know why I got the ticket, just wanted to know, between a friend and I, if it was a mandatory in the 48. I always wear it but I had gotten out of the truck in one city and climbed back in and did forget to put it back on. As for the police seeing me, he did. He was in the grass area between the on-ramp and freeway facing oncoming traffic and I was the first vehicle to come around the bend. I'm not arguing the ticket. Hail, it is a $25 ticket, so it's only a $25 lesson this time.

Oh yea, I wear my seatbelt at ALL times, even in my car. In my 12 years of trucking, I saw some horrible stuff from drivers without seatbelts on that would have never happened if they only had it on. Makes my stomach turn to think of some of the things I saw due to no seatbelt. Phew.

I feel that the government has held our hands way to long and way to often!!!
Smart or not we the people should decide.
Yes we elected the officials that created the laws, but rarley do they do what they ran there platform on.
Laws like this maybe helpfull but invade our rights!

I feel that in the governments mind we the people are small and stupid like kids must me lawed to death. When we complain be are given a ticket for our own good!!!

We were involved in an accident about 5 years ago in Oregon, and the officer on the scene at the time said that you do not have to wear a seat belt in Oregon in a CMV. Don't know if that has changed, but that is the way it was then.

I personally always wear a seatbelt, but I don't really understand the animosity of the people who support the law...I mean, why the hell would you care if another person doesn't want to wear a seatbelt? Its thier life, not yours, they can decide what they want to do with it. Wait, scratch that: They should be allowed to do what they want with it. Hooray politics!

OK people now this is the law ^^, it dosen't mean that it is always enforced, but none the less it is the law anywhere in the US for CMV's

The reason that it is law is because if you wreck and injury yourself without a seatbelt, the taxpayers end up paying. We end up paying the medical bills of the uninsured, we end up paying the SSI when you can't go back to work, we end up paying to support your children that you can't support. The government doesn't care if you are safe and uninjured, they care that you will become a burden on society. Ditto for helmet laws.
