*sighs and cries* Not going to make it to New Orleans. Had to give up the load to a drvr going home sooooooo........ here I sit in the Petro shop, cause our trainers haven't the foggiest idea how to do a pretrip. Getting 2 new shocks, 2 marker lites, and 3 hub seals. Really getting tired of this.

sometimes we park at sinclair on exit 112 on 15. mile east of freeway. not very big. so not a lot of trucks.

    ###### week this week. delivered at 8 in west jordan. dh to plymouth for rebar to columbia falls, mt. next door to kalispell for crushed cars to boise, wood from boise to idaho falls, rigby, rexburg, driggs. then dh back to plymouth by 6 p.m. sit and wait for 7 a.m. for load to tucson. then home time.

sprint nav has been knocking it out of the park for me too. but some of them streets weren't designed for cars. bought the copilot software for my phone. doesn't have all the bells and whisltes of rand. but it knows where to take me. and even designates the streets and highways as hazmat prefered and no trucks. i'm pleased with that program. eta does seem to have a glitch but i can run sprint nav at the same time.

so, how does one go about trying to contract out with someone. i see nucor as a very good idea if they take O/O's.

truck is averaging $4000 a week. spends $1800 in fuel. i'm averaging 5.8 mpg. i don't think nucor has any requirements for trucks. as long as the load gets there.

i'm writing down names of the brokers i've been hauling for extra infor.

i might be kicking around this idea of O/O. flatbed seems to pay better. and there's no appointments. the pay seems to be better with steel. but picking up DOES have an appointment.

so, what's yall secrets to knowing where the truck stops are. it be nice to know ahead of time someone has truck parking when rolling down the freeway instead of not knowing untill you've past it. driving with eyes closed at 50 mph makes for a long night. LOL.

playing down south again this week. rebar going to tucson monday morning.

Also look for the non-name places. TA, J, Peelot etc. Will fill up first with company drivers. The smaller mom and pops will many times have parking later in the evening after the others are full.

the non name places is what i was looking for. i've got an app on my droid that tells me where the big chains are.

last week had me up north though. and the big chains were few and far between. i actually did the ramp thing. not even the small towns had a place to pull over.
