Probably not since it is only 4 lane and has many trucks already on it.

I used to run that road twice a week 4-5 years ago. Unless they changed something it's the only way to go.

Guess you got to try and make me feel stupid for asking this question. You can feel better about yourself now......and looks like ill take this road in the morning.

    Thanks.

    Not intended.

Just humor to let you know you can drive it.

After Roswell, there are no real stops until Toularooso or whatever it is called.

I usually run down from Amarillo to catch it. Nicer road, scales not hardly open except for the port of entry and traffic is not bad either.

I have been running it for many years.

Even got to watch a missile test one day. They shut the entire road down for it.

Ahh gotcha. Retract my statement then. I'm heading to clovis in the morning from Alamongordo. Was just wondering since it isn't highlighted in my atlas like all the other roads.

I'll be empty so shouldn't be to bad over the mountain.

    Thanks.

Won't be an issue. Pleasant run through there.

Watch ruidosa. They like the speed traps.

Running 70/60 from tularosa to amarillio is the best way to go. It's all 4 lane. 54 is half 2 lane and under construction. Its 318 miles via 70/60, vs 336 up 54 and I-40. I clocked it in my 65 mph company e-log equipped truck. 70/60 took 5.61 hrs, vs 54 at 5.8 hrs.
