Any truth to this? Is it only certain divisions?

I've heard there is no tractor age requirement so long as your truck can pass a DOT. How do they manage rigging them up on older tractors? Who covers the cost?

Why god WHY did they decide to do this...if it's true I mean...

If your at an O/O only company and are responsible for your truck well put 2 and 2 together and that will give you the answer for who is responsible for the cost......

What would how old or new of a truck matter in it? Its kinda like putting any aftermarket electronic device into anything. Wire it up and here you go.

there are no EOBR's required at Landstar yet.
and till it is mandatory they will not be required.
only BCO's with roadside inspections and failures in there logbooks will possible be forced to install EOBR's.

EOBR's are connected to the ECM and gather all it's data there. If you have a older mechanical engine, to what do you propose to "wire it up?"

That would have to be a stand alone system, as there are no identifying electronics in the truck. It would therefore be too easy to remove it from the truck with no one knowing about it.

Schneider never used to have an age restriction, but since they went to electronic log books, the requirement is that all tractors must have an electronically controlled engines.

Hmmm that is a good question I am wondering about to. I mean I am a huge fan of mechanical motors seeing as they are easy to fox and if you know what your doing additional power is only a few turns away!
