does this PE automatically qualify me for a chauffeur restriction like driving a sedan, taxi, Jitney or public livery? so anything under the 16 passengers basically?

You will have a restriction on your license indicating that the Passenger endorsement is only good up to a class C. In order to be able to drive a class B (26,000+) bus, you will have to test in a class B vehicle, at which point you would have a restriction on your license indicating that the Passenger endorsement is only good up to a class B.

Wrong. You must pass the driving test in the class vehicle which you will drive. If you only take the skills test in a class C vehicle, you cannot drive a class B passenger vehicle even if you hold a class A license for tractor trailers.

You were told wrong. The Passenger endorsement will still be on your class A license, but there will be a restriction limiting that passenger endorsement to whatever size passenger vehicle you were driving when you took the skills test.

A 15 passenger van is not sufficient to get a passenger endorsement, since the vehicle has to be designed to carry at least 16 passengers. Anybody with a class D license and NO endorsements can drive a 15 passenger van.

And yes, I have a class A CDL, with a passenger endorsement, and a restriction indicating that the passenger endorsement is only good through class B...because that's the class vehicle I tested in.

when I got my pass. endorsement there was only a written test for it since I already had my class a.If you were getting a class B then you had to take a road test. of course that was a long time ago and things change.:biggrin_25519:

Worded differently than in my state. Had my class A then tested for a school bus/passenger in a class B school bus. My license has the the restriction "except class A busses."

I highly suggest that you check your license very well when you get it, and be willing to take a stand to make sure you get what you should. Mine was a nightmare, because it really confused everyone with me not adding endorsements/class B like everyone else was doing. They wanted to give me an airbrake restriction because I didn't retake the written test (had to do it on my pretrip, but already had the endorsement). Were also trying to downgrade my class A to a B, but caught that one before they handed me my license. Had to get several supervisors involved before I got what I should have.
