This is just plain BS. Hell, I heard this gobbleygook back in 1981. CT DOT wrote a ticket for not having white sheets on the bunk. BULL S###. The only things the regs say is that the bunk must be properly equipped, ie, sheets, blankets, pillowcases. Hell, it doesn't even say it has to be made, just properly equipped. I had forgotten just how much old time bs is out there. By the way the CT DOT denied there was ever a ticket written and offered to void it and no penalty. Guess what, it ain't never showed up as far as I know. Yep, this BS even made one of the early truck mags.

I thought the reason for the Eisenhower freeway was to have 5 mile straightways so the airforce could land after a nuclear holocaust?

Depends on if Pooh bear has left #2 there.

Your nose is working. That fairy tale has been around since before a lot of us were born. But ... seven (yes, seven) years ago I called DOT in Connecticut and asked the question. The officer laughed and said he'd heard that so many times it wasn't funny, and it wasn't true.

If a driver tells you this, even with a straight face, he's jerking your chain.

Like dirty jokes that third graders repeat generation after generation, the white sheets OOS story never seems to die its deserved death. It's a crock, okay?

The cop was probably pulling the driver's leg just to get some sort of "Oh my gosh, seriously!?" response after being told that they were going to be placed out of service.
