thought I would just wave that hand at all ya'll.
I accidently found this site cuz I was looking for statistics on bobtail stopping distances for a safety message.
and found that info very informing, so thanks.
Got to admit, it seems ya'll been around for awhile, dont know how I missed ya, but I am still using maptuit so, well you can see how I get lost alot.
Anyway just wanted to say hey, and I think that, of what I have read so far, this is a great way for the general public to get a better view at who trucker's really are. just folks like them.
oh my handle is Caveman, or Wacho, or "Dangit JB, git yor butt out of the hammerlane!" < I dont personally answer to that one.

welcome to the forum, stoping distance of bobtail depends on the truck and how well they are maintained, some pull up quick and some are really bad.
-
Thankyou Aussie Dave, for the welcome there.
I agree with you, some pull up quick and some are really bad. Even if maintain'd and with good brakes, a tractor is designed to stopp with a full load on. Heat and application of air pressure are meant for fully loaded tractor trailer combos
When bobtailing one does not have weight to force down the drives enough really for friction to perform its funtion of grabbing the asphalt -
