Not true, and you know that. A lot of us so called Old Timers take pride in our years of service, we earned them. There is a new guy on here, Gravdigr, and he has had lots of experience owning a company, hauling heavy equipment, operating heavy equipment, and much more. This guy is going to do as good as some of us "Old Timers". Its got everything to do with, how you act behind the wheel of a CMV. Gravdigr, is a fine example of how a newbie should act. Motivation gets you everywhere. Newbies, read some of Gravdigr`s post.

Definitely this.
I've been involved in all aspects of warehousing/logistics/trucking. The only thing I hadn't done up until recently was actually drive the trucks. While that related experience definitely helps, it's all about your attitude behind the wheel.Wargames Thanks this. -
Ugh, now you made me blush

Thanks for the compliment. One thing I did in my business a lot was train new workers. Being seasonal work often every spring I had a whole crew of new faces to deal with. After 15 years of this you learn how to teach and in turn you learn how to learn. You are not going to find many 20somethings with the right attitude to learn. I have actually been told by several students I have taught that I should be an instructor in the future. Who knows, maybe in 5-10 years I may switch to training or class instruction. Until the the road calls me.
Tomorrow we finally start range time. and if we can drive the pos trucks on the range we can drive anything lolWargames Thanks this. -
Two elderly gentlemen from a retirement center were sitting on a bench under a tree when one turned to the other and said:
'Slim, I'm 83 years old now and I'm just full of aches and pains.
I know you're about my age. How do you feel?'
Slim said, 'I feel just like a newborn baby.''Really!? Like a newborn baby?'
'Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants.' -
'I feel just like a newborn baby.''Really!? Like a newborn baby?'
sure he might have Woke up naked in the arms of a pretty nurse.
Learnt that a 3 year old truck is JUNK as newbies should get brand new ones just because thats the way they think things need to be done.
No one wants to work up or into better equipment or routes , lot of people with NO experience seem to think they have a lot of KNOWLEDGE.
Also found a lot ask questions , thank you for the info you reply with and use it to better themselves. Quite a few do not argue FACTS with CB FICTION.
Some will jump jobs just for the fact that someone posts a POSITIVE comment on a company, then come back
when it did not WORK for them.
Wargames Thanks this. -
I've learned that these cynical old farts with xx yrs of experience, who often complain about rates, politics, lot lizards and anything else that comes to mind tend to be the most informed, most willing to give assistance and even kiled people I've ever chatted with. I'm #### proud to have them as fellow forum members!!!
Wargames Thanks this. -
