this is the truth for intermodal. Not just hearsay. them container haulers bring in the lettuce

Now you have given a clearer point of your needs. Regional is not intermodal, as its also not dcs, basically its otr. and otr means you probably wont be getting home once a week like you need to. if you do try to get home every weekend you are going to find you will take yourself out of the freightlanes and will have to be brought back in through a short load, and then wait till the freight board comes around to your eta shedule. So I advise not going into regional. Because the way I see your situation is like this:

you have to be home every week
you need to earn good money

those are two opposing forces, cuz freight most of the time dont run on your schedule and trying to bend it to your get home once a week shedule is #### near impossible. All you will end up doing is feel frustrated and worried and wont be no good to anybody.

Why dont you talk to some of the drivers at JB that work whatever division you are thinking of applying for and they will give you the straight scoop. Maybe I am not out in the real world enough to see everything but from what I see as far as trucks and intermodal equipment they are very well maintained and I know the drivers in the Portland area make 1,000 easy and are home every night.

 

Move to PA crazy openings here. OH is a little closer for you I bet they have openings there.

And btw didn't MI go out of business? I thought they boarded up the state by now.

 

They're doing a lot better, judging by their newspapers.

 

Hope you don't mean Flint River. When I moved here in '03 a couple of days after I got here there was a news report "Flint River safe to swim in again." I drive over the river twice a day, but I have yet to avail myself of it theoretical swimming goodness.

I too only drive within city limits, and my take home is 1100 a week. Pick the right company and it can happen!!
