Its crazy, I recently put on steer tires Roadmasters 250 with install per tire, and today i went to buy one more and the price was 325 without install. And this is not Goodyear, their prices for Kelly (one of the cheapest at goodyear) $390 and $60 install per tire!! They quoted me $930 for both with install. How are we expected to drive when the load prices are not going up!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems like everyone is making money except truck drivers, and we have to pay for all these increases, making even less then we used to make

The increase in tire prices is partially driven by the increase in oil prices.

Well first off...you get what you pay for and IMO Roadmasters are a sub pare tire that I #### sure would not be putting on a steer axle. I can get 220000 miles on a set of Bridgestones if I dont run over something and over 300000 miles on my Firestone drives.
Now taking todays tire prices vs. tire prices my dad paid for back in the 60's and 70's tires are still (for now) this best buy going.
Back then bias ply tires cost around $100~150 dollars not counting the tube and boot and lasted 50to75000 miles. Today they cost 4 times more and last 4 times as long IF you buy a good name brand tire so tires are still priced about right.

Dont really know but I think you got ripped justtttttttttt a little. My boss can still get HSR for 450.00. IMO HSR's are about the best you can get for a spread axle flat.

    Don't be knocking my Roadmasters.....:biggrin_2559:

Oh wait you were talking about the steers, sorry I got the drives....

I did get some Dunlop steers and they just plain suck! I did best with my Bridgestone 280.

Ya ive seen the prices! Had all 8 drives replaced about a year and a half ago. Put on General D660s at $390 each. Just picked up 2 D660s to replace some damaged tires. Now they are $470 each. Thats one he11 of a mark up in 18 months!

Yeah, quality of the tire and how you take care of them makes a whale of a difference in life. I am just about to turn 400,000 miles on my Bridgestone M720 drive tires and I still have 7/32 tread on them. Took a tire gauge to them yesterday when I pulled into my tire dealer and had the steers rotated and balanced.

Gonna have them capped with Michelin XDA2 23 AT Custom Molded recaps later this summer. Then we'll see how that holds up and whether worth it or not. Then I'll know if it is worth the savings. Virgin tire prices have got me looking at caps more closely. Can get them done for ballpark $180 apiece. That price will probably go up just like new tires are.
