It sure didn't take long for the other shoe to fall. All of that collected, but unused CSA data on driver performance will be used under this proposal to stick it to you.

Mind you, they're just thinking about this...

Say the words "highway bill" and most people will automatically think highway funding. While that's obviously in there, most forget that highway bills are also a vehicle for the administration and Congress to set regulatory goals and agendas.

The recently leaked Obama administration's draft of a highway bill was long on regulatory goals and agendas. Buried deep in the 500-page document is a 66-page section targeted directly at the trucking industry.

    - further down in the article...

The Obama administration highway bill contains a proposed provision that could change all that. Detailed under the "Driver Safety Fitness Ratings" section is a plan for individual drivers to have a safety score assigned to their compliance history. While not expressly stated, it's apparent that system would occur under Compliance Safety Accountability - or the CSA enforcement program.

The program is already set up to track driver performance; however, this adds the rating mechanism and gives the FMCSA the authority to disqualify drivers from driving because of poor ratings.

Accountability for one's actions. Wow what a concept.

I would go looking for that proposal and read up on it for myself, land line has a habit of giving half the story to justify their pet politicians.

The government wants to hold us accountable for our actions.

When is the government going to be held accountable for its actions?

And I can think of A LOT of things that it needs to be held accountable for.

Tazz why dont you quit driving a truck, if your even a truck driver at all, and become a CVSA inspector?
I have never seen anyone as you so gung ho as to sucking up every law and rule that comes along and think every one must live by it and if they dont there gotta be the worst driver ever to hit the road.

I don't agree with every law so that's a lie. Still believe in following them even when I do not agree with them because these are not my roads exclusively. Have absolutely no problem tracking people who utilize these roads how ever they see fit and in some cases at the expense of others. Thought about becoming an Officer when I quit farming. I can not enforce drug laws so that option was out. I do driveand see every day drivers that should be executed on site because of the actions they take could be deemed attempted murder on their part. Probably a good thing they have laws protecting them from that arbitraryb sentance huh?

Southern Star that would be an election. Don't expect much as the experiment is just about done. But that is another discussion.

So. Don't think it's a problem to ignore drug laws, but you better follow the rules of the road.

Dopeheads can drive bigrigs. That's just peachy. But if you're just some guy trying to make a living, and you have a few lights out, maybe oil dripping off the bottom of the engine because you missed when you went to fill it, "Git a rope!!"

    Gotta love hypocrisy.

Yeah you do except when it isn't. See the reason I can not enforce drug laws is because it is my belief that what you do to your body is your #### business so long as it only effects you. Now those people I would like to see summarily executed include those who operate any vehicle under any influence of any drug including but not exclusively pot, alcohol, coke, meth, heroin, those insipid energy drinks.........

I have no problem with anyone making a living on public roads as long as they obey public law. It is impractical for us to have our own roads individually so we pool resources and usage. Now since they are communal we must agree on their usage. We do this through laws written by elected officials or by appointees directed by them. Not everyone is going to like every law, and some will like none of them. Asking permission to use the road knowing the laws that exist and then after the fact ignoring them is unacceptable.

And to be clear. I think anyone who uses alcohol or drugs is an idiot. But so long as they do it to themselves in a way that harms no other it is none of my nor your business.

Voting is now open for DA of the year and Tazz has just took a sizable lead over Obama.
