I was offered a job up there last week, they wanted me there monday but I had just been offered a new job here at home that pays close to the same, so I thinkI will stay here. If it doesn't work out though I will probably find my self there. Matter of fact they called and asked if I could be there Monday while I was taking my physical. I think I would have like the experience and if I didn't have a family i would have went

LET ME KNOW IF THEY ARE STILL HIRING DRIVERS JVAR7829@yahoo.com -
Plains marketing is still hiring crude oil drivers but in Stanley. Phone is [800-967-1840] speak with Gary. They want 2yrs tanker exp. I'm getting ready to start with them in a few days. Moved up here from Virginia & only place I could find was 50miles away in Minot and I had to wait few weeks for that too
. Oh well, see if I can find something closer in 6months when lease is up.
Have you tried going to http://www.ndworkforceconnection.com/ they list lots of jobs & updated daily.Last edited: May 23, 2011

Hundreds of Jobs, but nowhere to stay. It's an interesting phenomenon. So many people come streaming in for the work, that there's always more work. Especially in the servicing and feeding and housing of tired, hungry truck drivers! That's where the higher than avg. wages are! Most other works pays about normal, I'd say. Unless you've got your own truck and vac trailer, (or flatbed or other useful trailer) then you'll make good money. Team driving with a sleeper would be the way to go. Turn wheels around the clock and don't need a home.
It's definitely not a place to come and hope for the best. You'd be better off with a firm plan and a lot of contingency plans to go with it. And word is, its just gonna get crazier as summer comes on. Been cold and gloomy and way too rainy for too long. -
jvar4001, I don't know you and don't want to come across as an ###,but heres the deal. There is not one company in North Dakota that is going to pay your way up here, simply because quite a few drivers wash out in the first couple of weeks(can't handle driving on muddy gravel roads, or just can't drive a truck period.)Most companies are not going to spend anymore money on a driver than they have to until they know that the driver is going to make them a good hand.My advice to you (Remember I am not trying to be an ###)is turn off the computer, put your boots on,buy a newspaper and go find a job where ever you live, save up enough money, then ask yourself if I am ready to go to N.D. to work.Quit asking for jobs on here, be like the rest of us and go find your own. Good Luck

I jumped on the first opened slot, 6-months lease, paying $750/month for 2bd everything included except electricity & W/D on-site. ~55 miles from Stanley.
I was in outskirts of Richmond, in Ashland, pulled a OTR tanker for Superior Carriers. Old west services? I've already got a job with Plains Marketing.
Jvar, I would call Gary up anyways & see what he says. He's really friendly. By the way, Plains does not provide any housing assistance. I found out about plains on http://theshopperinc.net -- a weekly publication with lots of wanted ads you can freely view. -
You got a good deal. I have heard of 2 bedrooms farther west, for $1000 to $3000 a month. Living in Minot I think would at least offer some things outside of just work.
Good Luck
