There's signs in the Henderson yard that you're not to fuel if you're preset with a beer load, or not preset at all, because they have too many drivers go in heavy.

We were on the Coors fleet for a while, and they're not joking when they say the loads are heavy. I think it's largely why they went to a lease op only fleet. That way, if your load is heavy, and you have to take on fuel at 25 gallon increments, you can do it without messing up compliance.

Ok I know where Sara Lee is so I'll have to pay more attention when I ride out there. On my way back from Savannah a month ago was the first time I saw a Central truck.

We have an 08 T2000 and with the fuel tanks at 3/4 and tailer full of fuel, we are just under 35,600#
37,500# if it is a rail trailer

Wow! I live about a mile from the 75/16 split in Macon, use both interstates daily, and have never seen one anywhere around there. The one I saw the other day was near Warner Robins on 75. The one I saw last month was near Savannah on 16.

Considering/Comparing a couple companies. For any Central Ref. drivers. Do you get through the southern or western part of NY often? Looked at the $$ and other factors, but looking at the potential home time. Been told 14 out 2 off. Appreciate any input. (yes I know you have to be running to make money...etc. ;-) )

Count all the trucks per company you see in a month and he who totals the most is the one to go with. I didn't see any Central trucks today so it must be an invisible company.

I live in Jamestown NY, and never had an issue getting home for my time. But I only requested time every 4 weeks. Had a few Lease Op's in the area that got home every week for a day. They were around the Dunkirk area.

They haul to and from several locations west of Syracuse off I-90. And allot more to the East. I was on a Kraft dedicated out of Avon for quite a while before my wife asked me to leave the company for more home time.
On the dedicated run I went from Avon to Independence MO, and back. Got in the house every weekend for a night. Either Sunday or Friday. 3200 miles per week. Never needed a restart.
That took a long time to get going though.
Most runs out of the house were straight to UT or CA when I was OTR. Then I would run around the west for a week or two. Then to GA and run the south and Northeast till home time.

    Dennis the Menace Thanks this.

I have seen more Swift trucks that any other company but I feel there's more to it than who has the most trucks out there. I read the posts on my 3 favorite companies on here (Prime, Central, and Swift) and I believe any of the would be a good company to go to but it depends on what your personal preferences are. They're all basically the same but somewhat different in their own way....:biggrin_25526:

You have to pick the one that offers what you want but to know what you want will take a year otr. Ex: do you want an inverter (An big 3k inverter is a must out here and to not allow it is a bad signal to me), longer training, not be micro managed.... Marten, Conway and others do not allow inverters needing more than a lighter port. Marten watches you like a hawk and doesn't allow drivers to call S&R telling me they think we are morons, Stevens training is months long bla bla. Just a few tidbits to consider in making your decision.
Also know what is said about the other companies comes from other threads here and drivers I spoke with in truck stops and not from working for them. BOL
