I just bought a HP netbook from verizon. It's great, has built in GPS receiver and air card. So not a lot of peripheral stuff sticking out. It has a 12" screen and weighs under 3 pounds. I'm running the co-pilot live for my GPS so I need the screen visible while driving. I've seen these laptop stands like the ones they sell at DieselBoss.com but they are massive and cost over $200 bucks. There has to be a better solution. And I'm sure some of you guys have come up with some pretty creative ideals, please share them on this thread. Specifically I want to use this laptop in a '06 Freightliner Columbia. Posting some pics would be very helpful.
Thanks.

I have a sticky pad on my cooler between the seats right now and it's working pretty well!

ram mount is the only way to go we've used our's for 5 years
this is the base mounted to the seat
make sure you get the tray with the flat clips so you can CLOSE the laptop
and the screen support to keep the screen from moving when you are driving
this is the stand we have
http://cgi.ebay.com/RAM-VB-140-SW1-...698?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item518739fdf2
this is the tray we have
http://cgi.ebay.com/RAM-234-3FL-LAP...080?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5195a5c148
btw if you look at the 2nd pic we store the power supply in the corner of the base to keep it up off the floor
what i like about the ram mount is that you can have the laptop 6" from the side of the drivers seat and with the twist of 1 knob you can swing it over the passanger seat and the laptop WILL NOT come out unless you want it to and it will hold a chill pad under the laptopseawheeler Thanks this. -
Lots of stuff on ebay too. I've no personal experience with any laptop stand, but am considering one also.

I wouldn't spend the money that Ram mounts wants on one . Make one with threaded pipe. If you want a finished look buy a plexiglass top on E Bay. Otherwise just make a top out of plywood.
