I practice some 45 degree backing today. Sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't. I'll try not to let it bother me over the weekend. I got my test on Tuesday.

Its not something that comes naturally after driving a car but you'll get it. Just remember to go slow and make small steering adjustments.

Practice, practice, practice... The only way you get better is doing it over and over. If you get to a terminal with a trainer, ask them to let you practice, it is amazing how much help and hour or so can be. Pay attention when you are at shippers and receivers, or at truckstops, watch what the other drivers do, you can learn alot just by watching other drivers. After a few months you will be backing like a supertrucker!

Its all in the set up! Just remember that. Heck some days I back like an allstar. Other days like I'm 16 again. Lol. Just don't get frazzled and work thru it.

I had all kinds of problems backing when I first got out on my own with Roehl. My problem was that I was over-analizing the whole process and making it much more difficult than it was. I don't know if this will make sense to you are not, but "just drive the trailer". If you can figure that out, it will become a piece of cake.

I passed. :biggrin_25519: I did not get the 45 degree back at first, but Butch gave me another shot and I got it. I only missed two things on the pre-trip and my on-road driving was good for the most part.

I really liked the school. It does go by fast. Be sure to keep up and read what your suppose to and do your HW. The staff here is great. I flew to CWA airport in Mosinee and took a cab to Marshfield. You'll probably have to connect in Chicago. That's what I did.
