New to trucking and to this forum just have a few questions: Been driving for 4 years and just got myself a KW and I want to start here in Texas with the flex sand industry. Can anyone give me some names of good companies and any info on this kind of hauling because I hear the hardest part is the waiting in the sand pits to off load. Nothing to do just wait not even computers of cell phone usage. Is that the hardest part of the whole thing? I hear the money is good and I need that, my KW bill is large you know! LOL Anybody can help me that would be great.

You got a bill for the truck and don't know exactly how you're going to be paying it yet? Yikes.

Easiest way to find out is just go to where it's done and see if u can take a look or get to talking to someone who does it. Not sure if you will come across anyone on here in a field as specialized as that.

There are plenty of guys, and gals I'd imagine, on this forum who haul sand and also know the "in-n-outs" of the industry.:biggrin_25525:

This forum has much more information than most of "you" would imagine. :biggrin_25525::biggrin_25520:

I used to be a company driver for native oilfield service out of cleburne, up there they haul mainly for eog, enron. Here lately south texas is where things are happening. I know that the two biggest companies I see for o/o down here are tuttle and tuttle from cleburne and 3way trucking from boyd, tx. As a previous poster stated frac tech is also always looking for truck. I have been seeing a lot of truck from d&t trucking too, pretty sure they are all o/o's too. As far as the hardest part of the job, yes its the waiting. Hood county sand pit isn't too bad, voca and erna are the bad ones, several times I pulled in and was told they were "out of sand" and sat for 24 plus hours to get loaded, but the waiting at locations is MUCH worse. You could sit for 2 or 3 days easily with no shower and only the food and drinks u brought with you. Most locations are in bfe so no phone or internet and the company man usually wants the drivers to stay in the truck while waiting. Good money though because you get paid good money to sit and wait

Now are you talking about unloading at Frac sites?

I don't have any experience hauling sand but I supply diesel to Frac companies in the field. Anyhow, it's kind of a crap shoot on how long a sand truck waits to unload. They could start unloading as soon as they arrive on location or spend a night or two inline waiting. As for computers and cell phones, Slicklines or Wireline services use explosives. So yes, there is signs posted no transmitting on site. But most sand trucks are parked just off site waiting inline and I believe it only matters when wireline is going down hole. I park close to action and use my iPad and text all the time with no problems.

Svoray is correct, when you are staged at the location waiting to unload you are usually either waiting in line on the road or on an empty bad, electronics are fine while you are staged off the actual live pad. Only after you back onto the live frac site to hook up and blow off are electronics required to be shut down.
