Well, all you have to figure is I would go say 2,500 miles a week.
At 5.4mpg (currently getting) is 463 gallons at $4 = $1,852
7mpg is 358 gallons at $4 = $1,432 a week..... so a $420 difference on paper

after this weekend i'm heading out to this great wide open.... I gots me sum bills need payin
SHC Thanks this. -
That will cover all my bills at home, truck payment and I will be able to sock $500 a month away for repairs, but that is all. No extra
Like i said, the run is very simple and easy to do. Just gets very boring, very fast and I don't like the idea of my days off changing ( mon-thurs, then go back out sat-tues, then maybe thurs-sun)
I guess I am just going to have to sit down and really think it thru. -
If it were me I would have to go with whichever gave me the chance for the most profit over the long run but that's just me.SHC Thanks this. -
I would have to go with #2. Thats just me.
SHC Thanks this. -
Hire a driver to run your old dedicated route and go get yourself a tractor more suitable to hauling vans and do the SNI driving yourself? Not sure how that would work in the l/o world as I never considered it with my own circumstances. It seems like your dedicated tanker deal was low maintenance from a business perspective. Easier to run that from the driver's seat of another truck since it doesn't seem like there's much hustling involved from a getting loaded perspective.
If that's not an option, I'd pick the SNI gig for the flexibility and potential upside. Hard to tell what to expect after only a couple weeks tho.SHC Thanks this. -
Very true Red, but I am not in a position to get another truck right now, or that might be the best option.
As for everyone else's comments, I truly appreciate them all. I am still on the fence, but as it has been stated, What's to keep QC from doing what they did to me again? And I am almost positive that if I leave SNI after a few weeks of work, I won't be welcomed back. Plus, if all else fails, i can always switch over to SNI's bulk division and run tankers at $1.05 a mile plus FSC. I spoke with a few of the O/O on that program, and they are avg 3,000 miles a week, and get home every 10 days (1 guy goes home a few times a week cuz he lives near the Gary terminal just like me) and over 1/2 their miles are empty 9just like my old gig) and they will install the pumps, Hydrapac, ect all for free with no cost to me. So that would be an option if things got tough.
So i am still just as confused as before LOL -

My opinion from the outside looking in is that you left one for another,.....For good reason,...........
I believe once a company starts slashing rates/wages they typically do not stop,..........Sure they offered more for now but what's to say that as soon as the signs are on the door they don't pull the rug out from under ya',........
About the only thing I know about SNI is that MM seems very happy so far,..............And I don't think any of us on the boards have ever know him to be happy!!,..... -
