I drove for this mom & pop outfit for eight months and not one missed appointment no tickets. The gal that did the log books has no clue as the
owner wants the driver to run beyond the HOS rules, so loose leaf book was
the only way to go. My last run the trailer tandum blew a bearing andbb was getting so hot the it blew two tires. spent more than six hours waiting on repairs. Was able to make the delivery but could not make the load waiting
in Des Moines,IA I told the owner that I needed a real reset as I had been running nearly 4000 miles a week for a crummy $ 1000.00 per week. in other words I was making about .25 - .27 cents per mile. Well he told me to bring the truck to the yard and clean it out. My monthly mileage report indicated I ran over 14,000 miles in the month of May. This guy bought the company from his neighbor after he had two years leased to the guy. He told me he was a battery mechanic. ( huh ) ?? well this battery mechanic put two new batteries in with two OLD batteries, well you guessed it the older batteries sucked the life out of the new ones, ended up having to put four new batteries in at the TA in Buckeye, AZ.. Well any way I told him that the spline was scarred and would eat the new bearings and that he needed a new axle for that side of the trailer. Well sure enough it blew another tire. Due to the bearings over heating and causing the drum to over heat. I returned the truck and was never so happy to leave a dog ### owner. He told the state unemployment that he was dissatified and that is why he fired me. The reason he fired me was that I was on his back for a raise. I also told him his sister really was not doing a great job on the logs. And the state did allow me to collect my unemployment. They decided I was fired with out cause.
