Was nice in the winter to have that block heated. Started easily, and you had warm air almost instantly.
Tripac has a unit that is isolated from the tractor's engine cooling too...
My last PM was $50.
TriPack or Carrier APU?

I too am going to buy one in sept or oct, I have decided on thermoking's tri-pac.The main reason is # of service locations. In my opinion,(for what it's worth)there isnt enough difference in specs or price to argue about so that just leaves service accessability, for me that is thermo-king.My sales service manager says to stay away from thier batt. powered unit til they get some more of the bugs worked out of it.

The unit that isolates the cooling system is another option.
I'm driving one now with 400k on the installation, you should probably get the flush mount to keep the top of the unit the same height as the frame rail. The cover was beat up on the one I have from the trailer bumping it during turns.Last edited: May 30, 2011

I have been looking into my options as well here recently. The Tri-Pac is about $9500 installed, Carrier is about $8500. I have seriously been thinking about getting a Onan. They have been around forever and god knows them camper folks are whinney little #######, so it performs great too..... I live down the road from ICT and they said they would install one of their units, on my rig, out the door for $7,000

Don't forget to ask about extended warranty. The TK by me didn't have any information. The Carrier unit had a 10K hour/5 year $0 deductable plan for just over $900.
While you have a difference in available Carrier service centers I have one near me. And since it is not an item that I have to worry about sitting on side of road I figured the better service plan out weighed a few extra service centers.SHC Thanks this. -
You going to be keeping that truck? You will get no resale value on it. Carrier and TK are the only ones you can get any kind of resale for (and not much). Just seemed you may be selling your little fuel pig.

Yeah, I will wait till I make up my mind before I get one. No need to pay all that $$ and then have to pay it all over again for another truck.
And that's a good point about the Carrier unit. I too would take that warranty plan for sure!!!! i am going to look harder at them now. Where did you buys your's at???? -
OOIDA has a grant program still going on that will pay 40% of the cost & installation of whatever apu you purchase.
-
Is it an OOIDA program or just help in finding available programs in your state? In December it was link to states and of course nothing in IL.

Gateway www.gipower.com Go to the one in IL outside St. Louise. Larger shop with dedicated people doing the work plus couple good hotels down the street.SHC Thanks this.
