I love the smart #$$ comments from the young guys, maybe if some of you were smart enough to know how to read a ^&*(ing sign and get off your cell phone, there wouldn't be a problem.

What is the point of that? I see a lot of trucks go over the scales at night with their headlights off, and I don't get it.
-
Those are the idiots we're making fun of, and should be given a ticket for driving with their lights out.
-
It used to be considered a courtesy to the scaleman to turn your headlights off when you approached the scales. We've lost a lot of courtesies over the years and that's a #### shame.
Mdbluecrab Thanks this. -
That used to be the norm at all scales and some still have. Signs requiring you to shut them off to make reading your plate easier.
Perhaps before deeming someone an idiot you might inquire for reasons people do such things and learn something. But probably better to look like an accusatory fool than a misinformed fool huh?d o g Thanks this. -
Prevailing attitude of some these new guys:
They didn't teach me that in bigtime trucker school so it must be wrong.Tazz Thanks this. -
I understand why the idiots believe they should turn them out however the inspector in the scales would much rather know all your lights work. If they want to be courteous maybe they should turn the 10-500w lights out pointing in your face as you drive across the scales. In the interest of being nice, should I turn ALL my lights out? In fact maybe you should just go ahead and pull around back instead of making him move his arm to give you the red light. All in the interest of being courteous. MI has signs saying you must turn your lights on in construction zones..........does that mean you must do it in every state? The speed limit in some states is 55 for trucks..........just to be courteous should you also do 55 in the 75mph states? Or maybe just maybe shouldn't you follow the posted signs, no headlight sign in the scales don't be a tool, leave them on.

you guys are way to impatient! how about getting on the radio and POLITELY asking why he did what he did? maybe they are having trouble? or were trained that way? I spoke to a driver just the other day that couldn't SHIFT! He went thru training and his trainer just let him drive empty so his first load he was lost having all kinds of trouble trying to take off in 3 or 4 with a full load on and to make matters worse he never scaled the load. I explained a little to him and then called his office and explained what was going on they were dumbfounded. Poor kid was scared to death checked with him later and he is with another trainer for 2 weeks and doing great driving nothing but loaded.

Some of the morons and idiots that you guys speak of turning off their headlights going through the scales do it out of simple common courtesy for the weigh master, as has been mentioned. They can glance up and see quite aways to see if anyone's headlights dont work long before they even get to the scale
-
sure--just leave your headlights on--burn the poor guys eyes out---lots of places that is a quick trip to the back if you go thru with your lights on---and heaven forbid if you have daytime running lights--been yelled at more than once over the loud speaker to shut my lights off------sorry they are off---just on daytimes
i suppose these are the same people who go thru the truck stop on high beams tho---just no common courtesy
