I'm still out here and still sober.

It's been a really rough new year and I had to make a number of meetings. I've learned never to get complacent in my sobriety because after all these years I still found a couple of moments I absolutely almost fell. However. I didn't.

    yay.

Hope you're doing well and being healthy and happy!

Nana, A meeting is never too far away. There's LOTS of us here.

    Could it be coincidence.......

    Nope........I didn't think so either.:biggrin_2559:

Its funny how the mind goes squirrelly after time by yourself, and not being around other AA members isn't it. I have found that getting number from members, where ever I go, so I have someone I can call when Im in that area is great. I'm glad your doing well Texas-nana, 30 years and counting good for you. Keep sticking around the new comers need oldtimers to keep them in line, and to help keep the organizations eyes on the prize so to speak.

I think for me, what helps me the most after my relationship with God are two things. My husband and the fact that I WANT to be sober MORE than the drink. this winter with my husband's surgery, stuff with my son, money problems etc I wanted to drink. But it came down to which did I want more? I want my life. I want my happy healthy sober life. And a drink will take that from me. The drink for me is an enemy now. If someone came at my life with a gun I'd fight, so I fight the enemy.

I know it sounds silly but it's what works for me. I want forty years sober, fifty, sixty. I want my life.

Hey That Chocolate picture is making me hungry and maybe I will need OA??? But never got in trouble eating chocolate at least. Like the message and it gets " Simpler and Easier" . When I was first Sober, I wanted to be a Quality AA Spiritual Giant and impress everyone with my wisdom. Now I know Nothing it seems and grateful to be alive and Sober. Keep doing what you are doing and hit 40, 50 60 ...Have Fun Texas-Nana!!!!!

Hey A/all ! Just wanted to say I'm still hanging in there and am looking forward to 2.5 yrs of sobriety July 29th ! Does anybody sponsor from the road? I'm not looking, I'm offering but being a driver seems to make being a sponsor rough... was wondering if any other drivers sponsor people from the road, and if so, how they go about it. I'm back in a rig and think I may have actually found a home with this company (knock on wood) so far they've treated me fantastic! Anybody wanting to get ahold of me.. 262-221-4315 is my current cell as of 5/29/2011.. tnks

I,ve just started driving 6months ago. Been flatbedding 3 months.
I have 22 yrs sobriety. For me I asked a guy in our group who drove 10 years if i could do it. He said i could so i go out 14 days and 3 home. Usually get 2 meeting in when i get home and when i do a 34 hr reset i look up AA online and try to get one. Exit 116 on rt 94 in Wisconsin has a club near the Flying J, half mile to town. 24 main st.
I,m now talking to flatbed companies that can get me home weekends cause i think thats better for me.

    good thread I'll be back

personally, AA never worked for me...One thing I have learned is that other people in any group, are not gonna help if you don't have SELF CONTROL.. if you don't have a meeting close,,,Kepp yourself occupied with work or anything constructive...Being sober is just a matter of staying in control...Good luck Fella's:biggrin_255:

AA saved my life, if (like many of us) Self control had ZERO to do with it, we had none, we had a disease that made it (for me at least) impossible to stop w/o the help of something OTHER than myself.

I owe everything I have to AA, thank God.
