If it were me I would document it every day and then you won't need to worry about whether you are legal or not.

Our truck may be driven by 4 different drivers in one day

.....do we really need each of them to do an inspection on the same truck?
..... can we not just have one inspection that is good for all day?

Most of our trips are less than 30 minutes

Does each driver need to have documented himself?
    Thanks

Personally, I wouldn't rely on another drivers inspection, just saying,,,,,

Yes, but it almosts seems silly to inspect a truck every hour or two,,,,especially for a 15 minute trip.

Does this have to be a separate book for noting inspections? My company log book has a bottom section for pre-trip and post-trip inspections. This section is subdivided into two other sections for tractor and trailers.

The way some drivers do, or fail to do, an inspection, I would want to at least do a minimal inspection. It doesn't take that long to do an inspection.
