Illinois State Police are on the scene of a deadly accident on westbound I-70 near Greenville, Illinois.
We're told a red passenger vehicle crossed over the median from the eastbound lanes and was struck head-on. Two people inside the car were killed.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. at mile marker 39 in Bond County.
Westbound I-70 in that area will be closed for several hours for accident reconstruction. One lane of eastbound I-70 is also closed.
News 4 has a crew on the scene and will have more details as they become available.

what are you a newspaper writer?? how about redoing the headline to read car crosses median, hits tractor trailer, killing themselves.

you posted just as the media does, implying the truck is at fault.

i just hope ALL of the truckers paper work IS IN order....if his logbook is not up to date or incorrect, he very well may be at fault...the lawyers will say something like, "members of the jury, this dumbarse trucker was supposed to be 1 hour away from this scene, why was here there at this time..?? well members of the jury, he falsified his logbook"...(or woords like that)

of course, this is a worse case scenario..let's hope the trucker is right where he was supposed to be...

and yes, the thread does make it sound like the driver w as at fault....

    Note his status: 4wheeler

By the looks of the picture, anyone want to guess the 4 wheeler fell asleep and drove stright ahead into the semi?

I was involved in a similar incident to this, had all my paperwork in order and was cleared of all wrongdoing when I left the accident scene.

Actually copying the title of the article and posting it as written is the way most things like this are done and it is a perfectly acceptable thing to do.

Or maybe the purest example of trying a slow speed cutoff that 4 wheelers are notorious for doing, or the even slower 35 mph lane merge into the hammer lane. This is a tragedy no doubt however soon enough the report will be available and no matter the right or wrong the deceased will never return. My prayers are with the family and let this be a reminder to fellow truckers and non truckers alike.

The company that I worked for was widely known for being safe and drivers in compliance. At first I couldn't find my logbook, which I knew was in the truck. The accident investigator told me that when I found it to hold onto it so he could see it. I did know my duty status from the previous 5 days and told the A.I. exactly when I went on and off duty. When my truck was turned set back upright, it had rolled onto the passenger side. I got in the truck and it was stuck under the dash by the fan, I had to tear it to get it out, it was on the dash when the accident first occured and ended up under the dash.

Just FYI to all drivers, when this fatality I was involved in occured, I was taken to the hospital and the local police met me there, advised me that there had been a fatality and they were going to give me breathalizer and drug test, which they did, knowing our company also, the officers told me that they knew I was ok, but was doing this to protect me also so the family couldn't go after me for anything.

So, drivers out there who think they can use drugs and alcohol and get by with it, do yourself a favor and don't get involved in a fatality accident........
