I know TL is headquartered in Joplin, Mo and was wondering if there was any information on how the local employees fared. I ask for two reasons - one of my first vivid memories as a young kid was the May 31, 1985 tornado outbreak in Pennsylvania. I was visiting my grandparents that week only a few miles from where the F5 Wheatland, Pa tornado path was. At Freight, we had 5 families loose their homes in the Birmingham, Al tornado and there was a company fund raiser where all the proceeds went directly to the Con-way employees that were affected.

Were there any TL employees affected, and if so, is there a company fund raiser of any sort to help them? If there is, could someone post the information here or in a PM to me please. Thanks..

The company had us contact our fleet manager to donate. They are payroll deducting the money over a 4 week period starting with the June 10 paycheck. As far as the employees...3 suffered injuries (at their homes i assume) and 29 had their homes either damaged or destroyed by the storm. I got all of this info from qualcomm messages.

Is there a link or something you can give me for donations?

If not, I'd be more than willing to notify those at Freight that started the Alabama fundraiser.

    Thanks man..

Try calling the main line 800-641-4748 and ask for ext 6632. I haven't listened to what's there, but it may head you in the right direction.

    Nah, :biggrin_25513:
as of the last time I checked it, there is the Red Cross or I guess you can send a check to Joplin relief effort, call that number and ask where to send it or what not. Jake that is really cool you would be willing to give like that, I am making a small donation out of my 4 checks in June every little bit helps, this place looks really good to have been skirted with a F5 Tornado, tonight when I had my truck inspected the mechanic said he went out and started his car in the parking lot, and the tail pipe was under water and so it sucked water into the engine and broke two pistons and the rods went thru the block. Then he said it could yave been worse.
thanks again Jake for your kindness.

I was with the old CFI back in '06-'07 and got through Jopmo off and on. Did anyone at the terminal get hurt? How did everything turn out?

57 Joplin employees residences were either destroyed or inhabitable, there was major electrical and water as well as plumbing issues with the terminal, the roof on the shop was taken off there was windows broken in the main building, 3 people got hirt.
