    With is 10,000 miles and a couple of weeks of experience he's likely a Swift or Schneider candidate at best.

    sounds like you are learning quick--good for you to stand up to the dispatcher---got to set the ground rules or else you end up running team with your imaginary friend--although sometimes its nice to do favours--its to the point that you will be the one getting the big screw if something does go wrong--and in the big picture--doing them favours doesnt usually earn one cent more

    I was told in my post about how much taxes should I withold by everyone on this board that paying a driver who isn't an owner op on a 1099 is illegal. I dont mind being paid this way, I just take every 3rd paycheck and put it away.

    I do like the company and the pay, I DONT like ONE dispatcher who is always trying to push me to run illegal.

    I have been ON TIME to EVERY dock appointment assigned, and didn't complain when they short ran me home from North Dakota. (Took me almost 3 days to run 850 miles home, had 5 loads and unloads and a nice 9 hour detention at Murphy Warehouse)

    I ran from Chicago to Oklahoma City last week, leaving Chicago at 7pm and MAKING my 9am dock appointment the next day. (Do the math, remember my truck is governed at 65mph)

    Like I said, I can shave 1 or 2 - I do it not only for them, but also so I can get home and get paid. Because the speed limits are 70-75 and my truck only does 65, I CAN shave a LITTLE. No way can I shave 5 or 6 on a 1100 run, when I have toll tickets, fuel reciepts, and bills of lading that are time stamped. I do NOT want a 3000 ticket, OR a log violation on my DAC.

    Not illegal to use a 1099 and hire someone as a contractor - I've been a contracter for lawfirms for years, and in trucking, I had two gigs like this. It just means that you handle your own taxes and teh company doesn't have to pay all the backup fees for your employment if you were a W2 employee.

    Just a thought - if they're paying you in cash, the don't subscribe or report to DAC...most likely.

    I like yourself have been in situations where I've had to run illegal before and play the create-a-log game many times before. Standing your ground will ultimately play out the best for you and if no one is willing to stand by you normally the safety dept will at all costs. One sidenote if they want you to run illegal so much then why dont have the shop turn your truck up then??? Just a thought.....

    just pull up to a statey hand em your logs and tell them what t here having you do once the company gets wacked with 10g's or more they'll straighten out and best of all i heard its totally unanimous its as if they actually pulled you overlol i dont know if theres any truth to that just what my teacher told me to do if i was being pushed to do illegal things
