Hey guys. I'm starting with a new outfit next week pulling a hopper and a walking floor trailer. I pulled a hopper years ago just pulling out of the fields to the bins mainly but never pulled a walking floor. Any advice you guys who have done it for a while care to share?

I'd help you if I could, but I have no clue about a walking floor other than knowing the stuff comes out the back. :biggrin_255: Welcome to the hopper thread at least....

There's a lot of them coming out of ethanol plants. Never pulled one, they are heavy but you can haul numerous different loads with them. Ones I have seen use hydraulics to run the floor. I don't think it would be too hard to use them.

I never have pulled one either but see them hauling hay and such into the feedlots. Lot of them are used in hauling out of the lumber mills and trash to the land fills. I guess anymore they make them to haul a lot of different products. Good luck on your new adventure.

Thanks guys. I will be hauling specialized cattle feed mainly with the walking floor trailer. Yes they are hydraulic run as one of you mentioned. The company is very small only 27 trucks but they service a very large customer here locally. Other than that just the usual stuff with the hopper. See ya around.

Good luck to ya,and keep us updated on how you like it. At least with the live floor you can unload poor flowing stuff like cotton-seed, CGF and all the 'sticky' and 'stinky' feed ingredients without too much manual labor:biggrin_255:,but i have talked to a few fellers that say they really need to be swept clean fairly often to keep the floor working smoothly. They do offer a lot more options for different types of bulk freight though.

Outerspacehillbilly, Do you have a belt walking floor trailer. That's why I was mentioning getting wet feed at ethanol plants.

Not exactly sure what that is? The walking floor I'm talking about is a hydraulic floor that moves so you can haul palletized stuff.
