When I was leased to Landstar there was an agent always trying to get me to pull loads out of there, but they paid garbage and were driver unloads, so Werner or JB might be right.

On another note, Southern Pride went out of business? -
Southern Pride...in KH's signature line, was a venerated member of these forums who passed away recently. There are many among us who feel his absence every day.

The Challenger Thanks this. -
I've gotten several loads both out of and into that K-mart with Swift. I don't know if they are dedicated or just running occasional loads with OTR drivers. I heard the rumor that we used to have that as dedicated, but lost it a few years ago. I have no idea if that's true or not. And if it is true and we lost it, I don't know who we lost it to. So I guess I'm just rambling off useless information...
The Challenger Thanks this. -
I hauled lotsa stuff outta that K-Mart DC when I was with Swift. It goes to K-Mart and Sears stores. But have a hard hat on when you go to open those trailer doors! They pack that stuff floor to ceiling and wall to wall, but loose boxes! Nothing palletized, nothing wrapped. Boxes just fall out all over the place.
Seeing the way they pack that stuff and the devil-may-care way they handle their own merchandise has become a big reason why I don't shop at K-Mart and Sears stores for anything of real value (electronics and such). It gets crammed and crushed and dropped before it even reaches the stores, then it gets dropped, thrown, crushed, and tossed into bins randomly once it reaches the store dock. I bet they get lots of stuff returned after purchase due to damage from the way they cram it into trailers and toss it about at the stores. -
They do cram stuff in the trailers but the high value items usually 300 or more retail are usually delivered in bunches 2-3 or more if not a pallet .. Usually taped together and placed high in the trailer ..
I drove for WM private fleet for roughly 5 yrs
And pulled Kmart dedicated for Koch for bout 1yr ( 8 mths )
There are pallets on these trailers usually paper products / pet food / mulches / Detergents ...etc ( bulk items high volume inventory I would say on average there is bout 4-6 full pallets and 2 half pallets if not more per trailer unless the store did not order any HIGH CUBE / HIGH INVENTORY. Items which is rare because they are normally weekly featured sale items in store ... Weekly / Daily
Water is palletized normally also
Kmart is a simple unload I normally helped the stores ( not required ) but did and got full trailers off in 1-1.5 hrs normally start to finish
( open door to close door ) when you find a half pallet stack it high with boxes to get the freight off the trailer ... -
doesn't heartland do it or did they used to have seen a couple of their trucks
