Greetings everyone ive been reading your forum for some time now and finally decided to join. come June 15 im of to San Antonio tx to the swift driving academy. and i hope it goes pretty good ive read positive and negative things but im keeping my head up and going with the positive.
I have some experience with driving a rig and backing changing gears and well im pretty much good to go i just need that darn license, jumping out of the warehouse (forklift) and moving on up with the big boys!
i would appreciate any advice from other swift master sin says ahahahaha and anything i should avoid and or do is welcomed also
altho i do have a couple questions if anyone can answer for me.
when you go solo is the truck they give you equipped with a tv and fridge or i have to provide that?
dose swift have APU units? (i herd they dont but that forum was old)
on the qualcomm system can you hook up your laptop and use it to get on the internet? or must i get like sprint 4g internet to go?
do they pay per load? or settlement weekly? bi weekly ? monthly?
if they dont have a load where your at for a day or to can u request a hotel stay?
i have lots more but im sure those for now are good... im ready to get y career on!

Hello from the Pensacola area. After doing some reading I finally decided to join. I'd like to get back trucking into and welcome some input. I'm currently looking at May Trucking but would like to drive for something regional like Davis express out of Starke FL. Ideas?

Welcome fellow newbie!

No tv/fridge in the truck. You might get layover pay, not sure how Swift's policy is. They will have a "payday" weekly, with a "cutoff" day to get your paperwork in.

Good luck at Swift, let us know how it's going.

ive heard most swift trucks have tv with direct tv, you must pay $4.99 a month for service, and include wifi, also, the ones ive seen had oversized dorm fridges with apu and they will pay your motel after 4 hours of sitting.
