Does muscle really weight more than fat? ... density is that 1 square inch of muscle weighs 3 times more than 1 square inch of fat. Of course a pound of anything is just that a pound.
DOT physical mandatory body fat test?

Therefore, muscle is denser than fat. Not heavier.
ronin Thanks this. -
If I get a box of bricks and get the same size box of feathers the bricks will weigh more. If I get 1 lb of muscle and 1 lb of fat it is the same 1 lb. If I cut a square inch of muscle it is going to weigh 3 times mor then if I cut a square inch of fat.
Doran Yates the bodybuilder who won many contests. He is 5' 10" and weighs 242 to 269 and 49years old. His BMI is between 34.7 to 38.6 he is concedered to be obese.

You want to tell him he is fat. lol -
You don't need to get into any type of tizzy and show me pics of Yates to try and argue in your favor. I agree that muscle is denser than fat. However, density is still just that, density. Weight is a different thing altogether. Your original post never measured the weight of a specific area. Just thatIn a given area, yes, that would be true. You never mentioned that in the original post, which is what I commented on. End of discussion. -
Above the standred DOT physical that are required their are the insurance companies of these carriers that require the BMT test. For example a physical endurance test that companies want but are not part of what is required under the DOT physical. Problem with the BMI is that it is flawed but companies use it any way.

When I did a physical with knight in phoenix,az they used the BMI machine but didn't say.anything bout it. Thing.mine came in at 32%..I am 6'5 274#..anyway could be some companies use it to eliminate if you are over a set amount. Can't legally I guess. But if they don't divulge that is why u weren't hired. Then hard to prove...anyway

I just had my physical last week, no bmi test done at all. i'm thinking company promoted thing, not dot

any kind of test is flawed if you want to be truthful about it.you could get a 100 doctors in a room and i guarantee you not all 100 will agree which method is the best way to measure body fat.But lets be realistic there are way to many big people out here driving trucks that find ways to work around the dot requirements. Its a shame how big some people allow themselves to get and blame it on other reasons other than overeating or bad food choices.Getting extremely large is a choice you make as a individual.
