So far my limited experience with IIRT had been good. The recruiter was friendly (duhh...) but did what he said he would do when he said he would do it. Easy to get a hold of. Went to the school site to sign papers and get enrollment package. Office was clean, organized and friendly.

Ready for Monday and the journey. Hope this helps someone in the Medford area as they consider what they need to do.

Will post updates as the days go by.

Welcome to the wonderful world of trucking where most of us tend to fall in these categories (not neccessarily in this order)-happy, grumpy, underpaid, underappreciated, useful, more often useless, comical, insightful, careful, careless, quick-witted, dedicated and most importantly: WILLING TO WORK FOR FOOD WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS! Glad your hear, drive safe and remember this G.O.A.L. (Get out and look)!

Well day 2 at IITR in Central Point OR. I went to the DMV today and took my general knowledge and endorsement tests. Passed each of them! Day one and day two in class have been spent watching training videos with interaction with each of the students and the instructor. It wasn't like someone just popped in a DVD and left the room. The instructor stayed with us most of the time and stopped the video at specific times to discuss in depth the items we needed to learn.

So far I have to give IITR high marks for orginization and quality.

How did you pass the tests after only 2 days? Did you take a CDL class previously?

Hey Newbeav! I have been studying the CDL Manual for about 2 weeks before school started. The videos helped tie some lose strings together - especially for Hazmat. I don't think I would have passed the Hazmat without the classroom time... Hope its going well for you! Week one under the belt - whew!

OK - so week one in done. It has been sort of like getting fed through a fire hose... A lot of information that will build the basis of what we begin on Monday. Sitting in the classroom talking about shifting, backing, coupling, etc. only lays the foundation for yard time starting Monday. Had three instructors this week and all were great. Began the process of job placement. The log book exercises helped out a lot. I'm still very happy with IITR.

Well... here we go into the second week. It was yard work with pre-trip / post-trip inspections and coupling and uncoupling. Tomorrow is practice - practice - practice. We also went out onto the shifting range today. It was great to put classroom teaching into practice. Double clutching and shifting up and down. Going around and around. Shifting in and out of low / high range. Very happy with IITR and the trainers. Very patient and working to help us succeed.

    wondering4ever Thanks this.
