The only thing I can add is Dont play your fm on the cb. I dont think anyone cares what song you like enough to blast through the cb for 3 minutes. Chances are it is the stupidest song ever made.

I had one in my pickup back when I used it for company car and really like listening to guys late at night just talking as they drove. The problem was during the day, that is when the idiots came up and I had to turn it off because of the language. I also noticed most sensible drivers didn't use a cb. I would ask for radio checks and get very few responses. I think most guys now run up and down the road with blue tooth cell phones and keep cb off while talking to momma....

I'm a 4 wheeler with a CB, I think the key is to learn the lingo and respect the unwritten rules. I listen to truckers all the time, and when I see a road hazard, accident, or a bear watching 'em I speak up and let them know. I think that they appreciate a good tip on conditions whether it comes from another trucker or a 4 wheeler. Info is info, and that's helpful to anyone on the road. If I'm following family though, I change the channel, ch 19 is a good place for information, but it's not the place for family vacation banter. There's 38 perfectly good channels for that (also excluding 9 in that count, as that is meant for emergencies). Also you have a full grown bear shooting them in the arse eastbound at about mile 12, other than that you're clear to Carlisle.

Used to use the cb in my 1ton dump truck at the quarry. Guys out there were great. It will be nice to be called something other than Tplate once I'm in my rig.

Thats why i live here. :)

Not to say there are not a lot of people in montana, but a few years ago i went for a ride in the hill's... 8hrs of driving the back road mountain dirt trails, the whole time i was gone, i saw one pickup with 2 people in it.
I think i saw more bear and moose than anything.
