Parking Rig During HomeTime

i test in a week and a half. luckily we use the truck that weve driven for the last 5 weeks to take the test, thats kind of bull.... that they would stick you in a truck youve never driven on the day of your test.
hell we have a backup truck (just in case) to drive thats exactly the same except the circumference of the steering wheel.

we do nothing but excercises to get us a passing grade on the test up to test day, then we go another 2 weeks of "finessing" they call it. we havent backed up to a dock, not backed between actual objects, thats all after the test. hell never had the truck above 8th gear. we do a "fun drive" on fridays that has put me on an 8 foot wide road with a gravel shoulder and a NICE ditch thats 13 miles long 3 times so far @ 55mph.... our truck is 92 inches wide..... first time you feel the rear trailer tire go off the pavement, youll need new shorts, but it wont happen again.

i dont have a #### clue where im parking mine, but this area's a trucking hot spot, so im sure ill find a place. ive noticed that one of the tmc guys parks where i work on the weekends, might look into that. look for somewhere with a big parking lot and get ahold of whomever owns it i spose?

 

ok, im ready to start my new career. i have made a list of questions, mostly learned from these threads, and i am waiting for each of my prospective employers to answer.
what i really want to know, is where do most of you park your truck during hometime?
i live in a suburban neighborhood, and although i think there is a spot in front about 70ft long, i don't think the neighbors or the local constabulary will be happy for me to park my big monster there.
so, what do you all do?

Since I know people down there, I would doubt it. You would have to consider truck stops or industrial areas and see if they will let you park there.

 

When you get hired on at a company, see if they have a drop yard near where you live and maybe park the truck there or park the trialer in the drop yard and bob tail home and park just your truck in your driveway, thats a couple options.

 

In the small town I live in, no commercial vehicles in excess of 10,000 lbs are allowed in the residential area and driveways.

 

Check with your local Wally World, or local construction companies, most times they should, as long as you dont take up space where they need it, and construction companies will let you sometimes for a small fee per month

 

I use a local storage facility...the self-storage places. They have enough property to allow trucks, boats, rv's, etc... Check out one of them. I pay $25 a month. It's gated with 24hr access.

I found them by typing "parking" in craigslist.

 

Check with the local P D. most of the are willing to help you find a place to park, if they do not offer any help... Call city Hall they are paid to help you.....

 

I park mine at our wally world, they have a truck parking area set up there.
