Oh, I just wanted to add that my husband attends a free truck driving school (he paid all the DMV fees, and physical, about $230) which is 18 weeks long and he volunteers/gains experience driving for them in the last 6 weeks.

This makes going to truck school not a difficult choice.

I called may and they said that unless it was a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship crime, they would say no. Since they were a maybe, we will still try. Thank you for the info.

Also, try for some logging or chipping companies. Rock dumpers. More local stuff. Try some of the smaller operations. I wish I could make suggestions here, but don't know any specific names. Check farms to see whether they need drivers. Check with some of the container outfits. If he can get a TWIC card, he will be eligible to work in the ports. A felony does not preclude someone from acquiring a TWIC card.
There is one other obstacle he will have to overcome. Besides the felony rape charge he was convicted of and the felon in possession. You live in California. Trucking jobs in California are not easy to come by.micheledollman Thanks this. -
I am new to truck driving, what is a TWIC card?

Transportation Worker's Identification Credential. Issued by Department of Homeland Security. Have hubby check with the school regarding where to apply and be prepared to pony up around $130.

Anywhere I have been sex crimes and drug charges were always a thanks but no thanks.

And forget a TWIC card or HAZMAT license endorsement... significant background check on both.
