I had a close friend tell me today that after being an Owner Operator on Lynden Transport for 20 years of running the Alaska highway from Edmonton to Fairbanks and Anchorage, he never once had to chain up. There are no ice roads to Fairbanks or Anchorage. Nice paved roads all the way.
The climate around Anchorage is not near as bad as you may think, it's very close to the Pacific and does get warm air currents.Last edited: Mar 27, 2011
