Yeah , Bruce was who I spoke with, answered all of my questions and concerns . Have you lined up a job yet? I didn't ask about getting any extra drive time in the yard . Is that a problem to get it?

Yep, I start tomorrow with Luckey. I talk about it here: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...s-from-new-drivers/144576-the-final-four.html
As far as extra drive time, I'm not sure as I always felt like I was getting more than enough wheel time..........baseballcoach Thanks this. -
I wish it was that easy, Yeah it makes sense but renting a truck or finding someone with a truck to use to gain experience to pass the cdl test isn't easy around here.
I'm not so sure Insurance companies don't care, maybe some but not the majority.
Regarding Schneider I am thinking about going to tankers and they pay pretty well and train you well also. If it works out I can stay forever or give it a year then move on -
Sorry but I dont see how a company would hire anyone without experience to drive a tanker. Most of the jobs that I have seen around for tankers/ hazmat require at least 1 year of experience. They are good paying jobs for drivers but you need to gain the experience. Having a cdl does not mean much without experience. I had trouble finding a job with no experience at all. After 6 months of OTR(and dealing of being kicked around as a newb), finnally got hired by a different company that has much better reputation. If you can make it through your first year of driving, you will have much more opportunities.

You must not have looked very hard, snider higher new driver for their tank division, they advertise all over the place.

Yep, All I need is the CDL and SNI will hire me . The school I start in 11 days will train for Haz, doubles, trips and tanker . SNI will train me for 4 weeks then on my own. The recruiter (if they are to be believed)says after 6 months pay is in the low 40 cpm and they reimburse the school fee($3800).
Any SNI tanker drivers that can confirm pay would be helpful!
Tanks seems like a good opportunity/future but sure is a risky job.
A/T ,I saw some post that was congratulating you on a new truck. What did you get? Lease or just a new one?
A/T question for you, Should I get my passport and TWIC now or after I get a job? Anything else I may need before then? I don't want to spend any extra money until I need to. -
Nope no new truck for me
lol
Passport Yes, TWIC if your going to need it yes, if not wait till you need it.
Get a Rand McNally GPS, and make sure you have a way to get on here while on the road and your good to go! oh and a 5th wheel puller!
American Truckerbaseballcoach Thanks this.
