Ok, let's try this again, ---------------

First of all, welcome to The Trucker's Report ProSonic.
We're glad you joined us.
Now, about Big truck truckin' companies, ----- there is no one size fits all truckin' companies. What one driver likes, another driver may not. It all depends on what you're lookin' for in a truckin' company.
That bein' said, Schneider, IMO, is one of the better large truckin' companies out there. And Fox Valley is an excellent facility. I started out with Schneider right after graduating drivin' school and advanced up the ladder and pay scale rather quickly. I was also a driver trainer for a few years.
Schneider, upon my request, arranged for one of my trainees and myself to attend a defensive driving class at Fox Valley Tech., including the skid pad, --- on real ice.
The trainee had been blown off the road when a Billy Bigrigger passed her while she was lightly loaded and on ice which nearly blew her Big truck off the road and over a cliff. She lost her nerve and I was asked to help her regain her confidence. I figured the skid pad would do that, and I was correct.
My point is, how many Big truck truckin' companies would make that kind of effort to retain a driver? I'm thinkin' most of the starter companies now-a-daze would just give a driver the boot instead.
It never made sense to me to just go with the first truckin' company that showed interest in hiring me, with the intent of only remaining with a company for a year, --- to gain enough experience to move on to a better company. I figured, why not aim for the top and remain there longer than the customary one year? Schneider is the first company I applied to even though I was informed that Schneider isn't the easiest company to be hired by. That only made me more determined to apply, so I did, and the rest is history. I drove for Schneider for about 4 1/2 years and would recommend seekin' employment there to anyone serious about succeeding in the Big truck truckin' industry.
If you decide to go with Schneider, and are hired, I wish you the best of success. Please keep us informed.

Very true about big trucking co's. I guess they are not a one "truck" fits all kind of thing. After being a Owner Op for 10 years and going into the company driver side was a tough transition for me. #### Qualcom and the hard brake sensor, the roll sensor, the overspeed, overidle, trailer hunting, waiting 2 hours (no joke) for SEM, and 30 to 40 minute hold times for ops, a pos truck with 700k,.. I was not a very happy camper.. add 1200 to 1500 miles a week average with paychecks that looked more like a big tip than something could sustain a family.. and I was ready to grab 2 giant torches and make a frigging jack-o-lantern at the nearest Truckstop... but with no recent experience I was "forced" to stick it out for one year... So I made pumpkins into pumpkin soup. I figured I may as well give you guys a few tips if you arent getting enough miles and your DBL stinks and gives you runs that barely pay for your meals.
Tip One- (if your dbl sux) Send in your mac 18 AFTER your dbl goes home or leaves for the weekend.. and call OPS (after hour board) and tell them your miles suck and you need something decent..sandbagging your mac 18 and delivery times so DBL cant give you another 200 mile live load/live unload that eats your entire precious 14.
Tip 2- Electronic log assistance.. The second you get off the highway, put log into "off duty" that way when you pull into truckstop and spend 20 minutes hunting for a spot and waiting for trucks to pull in out your drivetime isnt eaten away. (hint) ANY duty status can be changed if its under 5 mins (4 or less)
Tip 3- the second you get your trip macros.. run to get that load! If its a live load tomorrow morning you better be sleeping there so your 14 doesnt start till your loaded, do your pre trip and you have 13.75 to run. (I always logged 15 min pre-trips, then 5 minutes for EVERYTHING else, unless it was DOT related (never was)
Tip 4- always try to be avail as soon as possible, never sit on a load. Always ask to relay a load if del times are not in best utilization with your drivetime, or try to del early.. just make sure theres no pre del penalty
Tip 5- Dont be a Victim or a martyr!! Beg/Cry/Complain/ Send evil freeform macros... but SAY SOMETHING!!Boogers, banjer picker, ATL-1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
You oughta fit right in bein' so
close to Titletown.
-
you can spit and it will land in Green Bay, but if there is a football season i will have to go for my saints when they face off against the packers
-
Bite Your Tongue!
Don't let that info get out.
Your secret is safe with me, I won't tell.
You do realize that the Schneider family is said to be
invested in the Packers?
Wouldn't want you to become a log for the fire in the pit
out thar in the parkin' lot.
A Title Town taxi driver once put it this way:
If the Packers and Schneider moved outta town, ............
Green Bay would dry up and blow away.

Not too shabby for a family owned business.
Ya reckon.
-
it's true too, don't get me wrong i love the packers i just gotta stick with my southern roots
How hard is it to relocate states with them? I'm here now but will be moving back to NC once i get the money saved up.
