When workers present...

I would say you should be going the lower speed limit unless you have a sign that says when light is flashing to be doing the lower speed limit. Better to be safe then sorry with a ticket in a work zone.

 

I always drive the construction speed limit,the fines are usually higher if caught speeding and if you hit one of the workers, there is usually a pretty step penalty for it.

 

I always slow down for the construction zone speed. The fines are usually double and sometimes triple! Bears love to hide in these zones as well. Not to mention, sometimes these zones lanes can be a bit tricky, especially with 45k in the box.

 

Road workers or other workers near the road are about the only people whom I do take it easy on. I always drive slow around them even sometimes slower than limit, other drivers behind me dont like they can kiss my ace! I used to ride a bicycle a lot recreationaly a lot of medium to long road trips on my old 21 speed. When a semi truck passes close by me when I was on the road the wind dust rocks debris from road spraying me was horrific. Those workers on the interstates where there is lots of truck traffic go threw hell from those trucks, so i do something extremely out of character and cut them a break even when I dont have to. It has more to do with respect for my fellow man, uno treat others the way you want to be treated thing, for me than it has to do with the law or speed limit sighns.

 

I always wondered about the construction zone speed limit at 3amthe when no one was around. I feel like I should be able to max the limit then im always afraid Leo is hiding there waiting to get me lol.

 

i would advise going the slower limit--i got caught in one of the infamous mich bear traps like that---iirc it was about 12 miles of no workers--come up a hill and there are 2 guys working on a piece of equipment in the median--and a butthole behind then with radar---of course the cars in front of me didnt get a ticket--or the ones behind me--but that is neither here nor there--i was in the wrong and deserved the ticket--but he didnt have to such a prick about it

 

given em a break, use caution, reduce your speeds, they are working like we are, and they are someones mother, father, sister, brother and so forth, and they are trying to do there job as safely as they can, so they can return to their love ones also.

I have plenty of family members and friends that work in the road construction industry, last thing I would want is losing one of them to some driver in a hurry, trying to get that can't wait hot load to point b, no load is worth anyones life yours, the construction workers, the four wheelers.

Oh man, I know the construction you're talking about, I75 north of the US23/I75 thing.
What I do, there as well as elsewhere, is slow down to around 55, unless I see someone, then down to 45. If it's in a zone that visibility is an issue, 45, sorry about that supertrucker, you'll just have something more to whine about.
Some of those lane shifts are pretty nasty for a variety of reasons, and hauling with the weights I do, screw it, I'm slowing down.
Anyone doesn't like it? Maybe you should have left earlier.

 

even though no one is around go the slower speed as there may be maintenance people out there as I once was when a truck lost it and hit a dump truck I was working on. Luckily I was in my pickup gettin parts or I would nnot be here typing today.
