So ACT pays fuel surcharge on loaded and deadhead miles?

Hey BigKid2. Appreciate all the good info. I have a few questions for ya. How picky are they on the physicals? Reason I ask is that I've had a sizeable hernia right above my belly button for over 20yrs now. It doesn't bother me and I've had no problems getting DOT cards from clinics. Do you know if they are real picky about this kind of thing? Don't want to waste my time if it won't go any further than that.

Also, what is their fuel surcharge calculated on? Something like 6mpg at $2/gallon? I know different companies do it different ways.

And do their tire & battery loads tend to be driver unloads, drops or customer unloads?

Does ACT provide accounting service for your fuel and payroll tax filings? If so, how much is it?

Do they charge a fee for the QualComm? Can you eloborate a little more in-depth about their point system for logs?

Thanks so much for your time!

Um well it didn't go well at all. I had a terribly unlucky week in Las Vegas. I lost about $10,000.

They pay on both loaded and empty miles. Right now it is .44 per mile. They base it on the average price in the regions we run. We really don't do west coast or the northeast at all.

It was just a standard physical for lease and owner ops. I think company drivers have to do some kind of physical lifting though if I am not mistaken. They do have you do a sleep apnea questionaire but I weigh 350 lbs and I didn't have to do a sleep study or anything because I don't snore or have any problems with sleep apnea.

All the battery and tire loads I have done have either been drops or customer unloads. I have not had to do any driver unloads and the girl who recruited me has been here 18 months and she has yet to have a driver unload either.

They handle fuel tax filings and they offer tax service through ATBS for about $12.00 a week. They do not charge anything for qualcomm. Log point system is not too bad but I have yet to have any problems with it. You have to pretty much match the qualcomm all the time and can't average over 65 mph for the day.

Fuel surcharge is based on 6 mpg at a penny per .06 over 1.25 per gallon averaged in our running areas which is the midwest, south and southeast. Right now it is .44 per mile.

The Challenger and ChuckK70 Thank this.

One more for you. You mention a .07/mile maintenance fund. Is this a fund that is drawn from when repairs/PM's are done? Or is it similar to the KLLM maintenance program where all maintenance is covered and done in-house?

    Thanks!

You pay into it anywhere from .06 to .08 per mile depending on how old your truck is and that pays for repairs or PM's and such that the warranty don't cover. Anything that is left over when you pay truck off or leave or whatever you get back. Our warranties are for 600,000 miles for most things by the way.

    ChuckK70 Thanks this.

Once I got back from Las Vegas to Kansas City I had a choice of 3 loads all out of KC,Ks to Wisconsin, Illinois, or Cincinnati. I took the Cincinnati one then reloaded in Louisville,Ky going to Olathe,Ks but it had too much time on it so I dropped it in E St Louis,Mo dropyard. Then I picked up a perloaded trailer of puppy food in Bloomfield,Mo and dropped it in Ottawa,Il. Reloaded a preloaded trailer there going to Tulsa and Broken Arrow,Ok for early Monday morning.

I'm disappointed. ACT emailed me back & told me they are not hiring in my area.
