I just saw a Galaxy 99v (early 90's high end radio) on ebay this morning for 250.00. Thats what I run, and I love it! Good luck. You must really love the old man, that makes a great gift for any hard working Dad on the road.

 

If he is into collecting high quality radios remember the classics are for the most part High quality. I have one I'll have to take a picture of but its from the 60s or 70s if not earlier and it puts out more power than most modern Cobra radios.

 

How about a connex big betty. Now tell me what driver would like it if someone gave them that radio.

Personally I hope drivers arent thinking that FisherPrice POS
is a must have.

BUT! if your one of those with "Show boobs in 50' " bumper sticker owners
then maybe that radio would in fact suit you.

 

I'll second the 99v. I'm not on the road anymore (Moved into the shop, more pay AND A/C!!) but when I was running my rock bucket thats what I used. It has since found a home in my pickup truck. Great radio. I also have a Galaxy 55hp, which has blue led's and dual mosfets, and it's a good loud radio too.
