just an fyi for the other side, find a inner bud nut to use to pound out the kingpin, you wont bugger up the spindle threads that way. it fits perfectly down inside the spindle too.

i dunno bout that canuck, when i was working in a shop doing them, that inner bud nut was a perfect fit. It was just tall enough to get a good start after that i had old king pins out of old ford pickup trucks to take it out the rest of the way. Plus with the inner bud nut it sat flat on the king pin you were trying to remove and did not wobble around in there.

but either works i guess, just a matter of choice

Earlier this morning I went back out to the truck to fix my prevoius days ###### up by whailing on the spindle in a couple of places.

I used my trusty dremel tool and a very thin cut off blade and cleaned up the affeced threads. I then took the bottom cap out and used the one that worked to clean up the top.

Both top and bottom now thread in perfect. Thank goodness I got all this done and back together.....I have to go to work Monday morning.

Thanks for everyones input. I appreciate all the good advice.

i bought a big brass drift it worked great--no fear of damage---some of the really old guys had big ### chunk of brass--i think it had somethiing to do with an old mack differential --maybe for the spiders perhaps--now that worked perfect--i can see how the inner bud not would work good as well--what ever gets the job done is good with me

Take a half round file. Clean up knuckle hole. Then buy another kin pin cap. Take a cut off tool cut six slot on the king pin cap .. where treads are. What you are making is a large tread chaser. uae it to clean treads and then use old cap
