It should not be up to the gov to tell company or business owners that they can't allow smoking in their own buildings and equipment!!!!!

It should be up to the owner to make their own decisions on these things.

It is a free country and we can all make our own choices , or we should beable to anyway, and if we want to walk into a place that allows smoking then we should beable to make that choice. Or we could choose not to go in. If someone wants to allow smoking in their building or equipment that they PAID for then that should be their choice and not the gov decision. If you don't want to work there then that is also your choice. No one is bending your arm to do so. No one is bending your arm to go into that bar that allows smoking or into the restraunt that allows smoking.

My family owned a car lot/shop. Our city put a smoking ban on all businesses. We already had a policy in place that did not allow smoking in the office area or around customers vehicles. We had a seperate indoor area for this. Now we had to send people out in -30 degree temps to light up. I said #### the law and we kept our "break" area the way it was. The chief of police came in one day for some work and he noticed that we still allowed our employees to light up int he break area. he told me that we can't do that. I said, well you are not paying our taxes or for the building or their paychecks. I wrote up the work order for the repairs that needed to be done, gave him a ride back to the department and dropped him off and he went and stood with a couple other officers out in the 20 mph winds and -30 degree temps and tourched up. Nothing more was ever said about our policy in our shop.

Little by little, this country is becoming more comunist every year. Soon we won't beable to breath without someone saying how or when we can breath. We won't beable to take a crap without getting the go ahead or some permit to do so.

Government should stop taking the taxes from smokers if they are not going to represent them and their rights.

They could do that, someone would figure out a way to get around it. Hmm, what could I think of? Some packing tape and some shrink wrapp would make that thing obsolete! Hehe:biggrin_255:

By the way, I did work for a company recently that was forced to ban smoking inside all buildings and inside all vehicles, including the class 8 trucks. Not that anyone stopped. So no, they aren't just talking about an indoor ban on smoking.

God, I hate this topic more than any other one on this forum, or in life for that matter. You cant argue with a smoker. No matter what you say, Its their right, if you dont like it go somwhere else!!!! Every time I hear that, I picture a group of fat, hacking, dirty weathered looking rednecks at a truckstop complaining about everything under the sun. IMHO, cigarettes should be illegal. There is not one positive aspect that comes from cigarettes, besides revenue from taxes. The same people that ##### about taxes, inflation and the government do not think twice about paying those high cig taxes and in return are wasting money and getting a host of horrible health problems....Then they will complain about health insurance. Although this post is true of life, it will still be trashed.....so let the bashing begin:yes2557:

I guess if a truck stop allowed smoking, maybe they dont mind me taking a dump on their parking lot. I sure dont want to get sick by walking by all that smoke.

Its their right to make other peoples lives miserable.

Haha, everytime I go to a state now were you can legally light up inside, im intentionally going to look for the non-smoking liberal type and smoke it up like theres no tommorow, hell evan blow it there direction.

Then the nexttime I hear some one complain about it , they'll actually have a legitimate bi*ch to raise question.

I hear about more non smokers whining and complaining then I hear smokers. Non smokers always whine and complain about smoke in bars, they whine and complain about smoke in resturants, they whine and complain about smoke anywere that it is allowed. Hey no one asked them to come in did they????

As far as employees, well if they did not want to work in a smoking enviroment then they should not have applied. It is their right and freedom to work anywere they WANT to.

Just like it is my right too allow smoking in my own building if I so choose. It is not the right of someone else to tell me that it should not be allowed, especially since they are not paying the taxes and payments on the building and property.

Reminds me of a time acouple years ago. I was hauling to a warehouse and was waiting outside next to my truck out in a gravel lot. One of our drivers showed up and he came over to talk to me. He then proceeded to chew me out for having a cig in his presence. I just said, hey this is a huge lot and your truck is over there, I did not ask you to come over and talk to me in the first place.

As far as dumping in the lot, go ahead, it would only add to the other #### that some filthy truckers just throw out their doors anyway.
