I'd call back and tell him you misunderstood the question.
If I were asking questions about your license and you said anything to me that seemed odd or a set aside technique, I'd get worried. Why not just shoot him your license? Why not meet up in person to begin with?
It's tough to find trucking jobs in Florida... don't miss out on one. -
I think you did the right thing. with your DL and SS#, he could sell your info and make a small fortune before you wake up tomorrow.
Most responsible and legal outifts will allow you to fax directly to the insurance company.
And as an afterthought, I'm not sure what an insurance company would want with your SS# anyway. All the info they need is on the CDL.Bigarmin88 and trucker_101 Thank this. -
Well he lives in TX and he wanted both I had no problem with that but he got upset when I ask for the insurance fax number. He give me his personal fax number and there to many cons and scams out there,AND I never give my S.S number over the phone to no one unless I know who your are,i.e trucking company, insurance company etc.123456 and trucker_101 Thank this.

I understand what you're saying... the same could actually go if you faxed a full application, like many of us have done. I'm stumped on this one.
On a lighter note... (a) would a conman go after a truck driver, knowing that most don't make a ton of money or have perfect credit... for the identity theft thing... and (b) most conmen and pretty impatient, and to spend 45 minutes on the phone talking about a trucking job to get your numbers... I don't know. -
What was your initial contact about ? You answered his ad, or he answered your ad or what ?
-
He answer my ad,had no idea who he was till he call me.

You never know,I have read stories in the news of people who where unemployed or work on a fix income who gets scam.Scam artists don't care who you are or what you do for a living. They use your info to scam others.

Sounds like you did the right thing. I don't give out information just because someone calls me out of the blue. I don't care if the someone claims to be a Nigerian Prince or the IRS. If I didn't seek them out, or that get mad I won't trust a stranger on the phone they can pound sand. We're not in Mayberry.
Also, freeze your credit reports. It costs 0-$10 and keeps people, even you, from opening new credit accounts without a PIN number. Don't bother paying LifeLock or anyone like that, they are outrageously over-priced and offer an almost worthless product. LifeLock and the credit monitoring services are like posting a "Keep Out" sign by your front door. The only people deterred are the that follow rules. Freezing your credit is like a deadbolt lock on your front door. It's a one-time fee from $0-10, per credit bureau and it lock your ability to open new credit accounts without a PIN. It doesn't affect you ability to use any credit you have already. If you apply for credit you can "thaw" your file in seconds or minutes.
The Credit Freeze or Security Freeze may not be strictly relevant to this phone call but everyone should put a freeze on their credit reports. Even if someone has your ID they can't open a new credit card in your name without you PIN number. DON'T LOSE YOUR PIN NUMBER, it's a hassle.johnday, lostNfound and Bigarmin88 Thank this. -
You did the right thing.
Never fax that info, without knowing who you're sending it to !!!!
It takes 5 minutes to check THEM out, then you'll know who you're dealing with.
Be careful..........
if you need help checking them out, holler, it's easy........johnday and Bigarmin88 Thank this.
