The road to hell is allegedly paved with best intentions...
I can understand parking on an off ramp, but hell Arkansas has very few Interstates, and their are some horrible on ramps that need fixing, that will never be fixed. [I-40W I-55S connector] That place is an accident waiting to happen, and usually does.

Yeah that intersection is crap. Try merging onto I-630 from the I-430... it won't happen.

That sounds like a blessing in disguise, but hardly suprising.

Hate to be a thread digger.. but with the new no shoulder parking laws here in the state... they helped out even more by closing one of the very few rest areas in the state. Its on I-30, near the 98 mile marker. Can't remember the exact mm but its west of the 98 by a mile or three.

I supposed here in Arkansas they think its better to crash and kill somebody than to have a place to get an hour sleep. The on ramp is the safest place to park that I know of. Nobody coming in at 60-70 mph. There are no sleepy truckers (or 4 wheelers) rear ending you or crazy drunks getting off the highway going to fast and passing out at the wheel. I used to pull Fed Ex runs for Ozark and they are tight. You might have an extra hour to sleep during a nights run and very little sleep that day. There was no time to "hunt" for a parking spot. I found myself nodding at 3 or 4 in the morning and often no parking at a truck stop. Yes, I'm one of those drivers that used the on ramp from time to time. I would hope that if I'm running behind a driver that is nodding he would use the good since to pull over. I guess this will no longer be true in Arkansas unless you are lucky enough to find an empty parking spot at a truck stop.
